Chapter One

Dreams

M

y mind is blank as a slate. I can't remember anything, not even my own name. Who am I? Where am I? I may not know the answer to these questions that would make my head hurt thinking about if I could feel my head right now. I can hardly do anything, I hear my breathing but I do not feel my body. The only thing I can do now is dream, I think...

My mind walks on air, like wings were attached on its back, making me come with it as the scene unfolds. Before my mind wanders to its dream state, I am surrounded by the blanket of blackness, cold all the time. It's a fuzzy memory as well staying there, you begin to lose your memory slowly. It was a pleasant feeling to wander again, to be away from the silent frosty blackness. A scene folds right over the blackness in front of me.

I see a girl sitting by herself, her head bend down to concentrate on the paper in front of her. Her hair in unruly curls, dyed black and a shade of plum purple covered most of her thin oval face. Her hair moving slightly as she gets out of this thing that was a mix of wood and metal that she had recently sat in uncomfortably.

Other people her age in the large room that all had the same kind of 'things' that she was recently slumping-alone-in were clustered around each other and making raucous noise at each other. They ignored her and continued to move their lips at each other; no sounds came out of them. The Girl didn't seem to care.

She had on these black wires in her ears, nodding to herself. An older male with not much hair left on his shiny head talking heatedly to the girl from the front of the room. He was very loud, booming in my ears as well as the humans even though I heard mostly just a blur in the dream states but his was clear in my ears. The humans that weren't The Girl giggled and then turned their attention to her more fully, lips twisted up at her. The Girl looked away, looking ashamed as she walked slowly to the male at the front of the room.

I stay in my perch in the corner, my 'wanderings' have never been this long or sharp before unfolding back into the chilly blackness that was never soothing to me. I always tried to find a way to get out of that void but I somehow always come back empty handed.

Her blank ashen face turned a pale pink color. Her vivid eyes flashed the color of her amethyst necklace around her necklace perfectly. I nudged myself to slide against the wall to get a better view of the man and The Girl. Her eyes narrowed to purple slits and her hand gestures were sharper than the much older male's. He backed down for a moment to pounce back at her with another dozy of words with a threatening tone.

The man and the purple eyed girl exchanged words; I couldn't make sense of it. Sure I could hear them and the words but they didn't register any meaning to me. Except the emotions sunk in, it didn't matter that it was slow to sink in. At least it did at all and not folds back over like a book, progress to say the least.

"Out! Go to the office, you know there is to be no electronics here. Take those damn ear buds out!"The man half yelled at the girl. She makes a not so pleasant face as she stood by a door; hand on the handle, her face grim.

"Fine Mr. What's His Name. I'll take my leave."She says and shakes her head (the black wires still plugged into her ears) and pulls the door back in place when she left the room in a loud whack!
