Prologue

Flashback

The rain seemed to fall harder as I watched him get into the car, I couldn't take it much longer. I fell to my knees, dropping my umbrella beside me. The water from the puddle my butt had fallen in splashed all around me. I cried every tear I had left.

Once he saw me through the window of his mothers car, he swung the door open running to my side engulfing me in his arms, not caring that I was soaking wet.

"Eves, Evie listen to me. I'm not leaving forever. I'll call you every day, I'll send you letters, I will do everything I can to keep in touch. Evie look at me!" I looked up to see his baby blue eyes brimmed with tears.

"I-I promise I won't forget about you." He said trying to hold back tears.

"Promise you'll come back as soon as possible?" I said, my lip trembling. I bit it to keep from bursting into tears again.

Niall let out a soft chuckle and sniffled while wiping the corner of my eye, "Evie, your my best friend, god knows we can barely stay away from each other for more than a month. Of course I'll come back as soon as I can." With those words I swung my arms around Niall hugging him as tight as I could.

"I love you Niall. I'm gonna miss you so much." I sniffled trying not to cry for the hundredth time that day.

"I love yo-" Niall was cut off a loud honking and his mother yelling for him to get in the car. "Oh shit! I gotta go Eves." I chuckled as he stood up and ran towards the car. I got up as he opened the car door. Before he got in the car he looked at me with sad eyes but smiled anyways.

"Call me when you get to hotel!" I said as he closed the door. Through the window of the car I saw him nodding his head with his hand in the shape of a phone held up to his ear. The engine roared to life and as he started to drive away I blew him a kiss. He pretended to catch it and slap it on his cheek.

I stood in his driveway, letting the rain pour down on me, watching my best friend drive away for god knows how long. Little did I know, everything he said that day was just a bunch of bullshit.
