Chapter 5

RRRRRRIIIINNNNGGGG.

First period had ended. Lucy ran out of the classroom.

"Hey, Lucy!!!!" Natsu yelled.

"What, Natsu?" Lucy asked.

"That was so cool, the way you stood up for me!" Natsu said. He looked like an excited puppy.

"Well, you did the same for me, so I'm thankful," Lucy replied.

"Well, I hate it when people make fun of my friends," Natsu said.

"Well, I've never had friends, so I don't know what that feels like," Lucy explained sadly.

"You've never had any friends?! I would've guessed you had lots!" Natsu yelled out, completely surprised.

"Why?" Lucy asked.

"Because you're pretty, and you're smart, and you're really nice!" Natsu said.

Lucy blushed. "B-Baka! Don't say those things out loud!"

Natsu looked confused. "Why not? I was only telling the truth,"

"People might think we're in a relationship," Lucy replied.

"Of course we are in a relationship! We're friends!" Natsu yelled.

"Not that kind of relationship! Like boyfriend or girlfriend!" Lucy whispered.

Natsu's face looked surprised. "Oh,"

Natsu and Lucy quickly ran to their second period, which was chemistry.

"Okay, class, please sit to your chosen science partner," the teacher said.

"Hey, Lucy!" Natsu said. He motioned for Lucy to come sit next to her. She quickly ran across the room and sat down next to Natsu.

"Today, you are going to be mixing vinegar and baking soda," the teacher said. "The supplies are at your table. Please mix them carefully or there will be a mini-explosion,"

Natsu poured the vinegar and the baking soda together. He then mixed it, but not softly. The baking soda vinegar mix exploded all over his face.

"Hahahaha!" Lucy laughed. It was the first time he saw her smile. He liked it.

"Well, then," he said.

"Natsu! You're supposed to mix it gently! Like this!" She grabbed the stirring stick and mixer it softly. He inhaled the smell of her perfume, the smell of cherry blossoms. His favorite scent.

"...Natsu? Natsu!" Lucy yelled. She shook him out of his daze.

"Huh?"

"Are you ok? You spaced out for a second!" Lucy yelled.

"Oh, sorry, Lucy," Natsu replied. The bell for second period rang, ending the class Lucy got up, but tripped on a chair. She expected to fall on the floor, but something grabbed her hand. It was Natsu.

"You ok?" Natsu asked.

"Umm... Yeah, without my glasses, I can't see," Lucy replied. Her cheeks were a bit pink.

"Oh yeah," Natsu said as he remembered when the girls crushed her glasses. "How about we go fix your glasses today?"

Lucy smiled. "REALLY? Thank you, Natsu!"
