After graduating High School, I'm excited to enter Senior High.
I am focused on reaching my dreams with my best friends beside me. Para ko na rin kasi silang kapatid, sina Kyle and Valkyrie.
Plano din naming pumunta sa iisang school sa halos buong buhay namin. Promise kasi namin yun simula pa nung bata pa kami.
But maybe destiny isn't on our side at that time.
We were going to separate classes. Nalagay ako sa ibang section.
I sighed in disappointment.
"You will be fine. One year lang naman... Malay mo, next school year, same class na tayo?" Kyle said.
"Yeah, tama si Ky," Valkyrie replied.
"It's just that, nasa iisang klase tayo almost our whole lives, and now, I have to deal with a new class na may bagong mga tao sa buhay ko, alone." I said, disappointedly.
"Alone? Sino may sabi? Nandito pa kami, Yera." Val said.
"Yeah, and look at the bright side... Marami kang makikilalang bagong friends doon." Kyle said.
"Isa pa, don't make your life revolve just around us. It'll make your life hard in the future." He added. All I can do is just nod.
Time Skip;
First Day of School
"Ready ka na, Yera?" Val asked.
"Mukha bang ready na ako?" I answered and pouted.
They both sighed and said, "Come on, Yera... You'll be fine. Let's go?"
Napahinga ako ng malalim at tumango nalang.
We walked to our classrooms and separated as soon as we reached ours.
I walked inside mine and saw my new classmates minding their own business.
It's something I'm not used to.
I sat in the most convenient seat I could see that wasn't taken yet.
Huminga ako ng malalim para mawala ang kaba na aking nararamdaman.
I looked around and for the first time, I felt lonely.
I looked straight and saw a girl and a boy who looked very friendly but I'm too shy to even reach out to them.
Mas lalo ko lang na-miss ang mga kaibigan ko. Gusto ko nalang matapos ito lahat para makauwi na. Sakto namang tumunog ng bell.
The teacher for the first period arrived and the class soon started just like every other class. Nothing extraordinary. You'll have to introduce yourself every first day of school so that the teachers will recognize you. Then they will give a non-graded activity.
Once our adviser's time came, we introduced ourselves then she gave an activity which is more like a game to better get to know each other. We have to find a partner to play the game with. Since there are 19 students in the room, one of the groups will have 3 members.
I think the game is fun but since I don't know anyone yet, I don't know how to reach out to them.
The two students I was eyeing a while ago reached out to me.
"Wala ka pa bang ka-group?" the girl asked me. I hesitantly nodded.
"Sali ka sa amin! Hindi naman kami nangangagat." the girl blatantly.
"Yeah, wala pa namang 3-member group eh. Tara." the boy said. I just nodded and went with them.
"Meron na bang partner ang lahat?" our adviser asked. We all answered "Opo" in unison to answer her question.
"Okay, let's start," she announced and my other classmates cheered.
"Me first." the girl suddenly said.
"My name is Dahlia Faye Lou. I am 16 years old. My favorite color is Purple and I have Astraphobia --- a fear of thunder and lightning." she said and we just nodded.
"Ako naman. I am Carson Will Lopez. I am also 16 years old. My favorite color is Blue and I have Acrophobia --- fear of heights." he said.
'How can they just say that to such strangers?' I thought while they are sharing things about themselves.
"I am Sierra Elyse Lim. I am 16 years old. My favorite color is Puce and I have Nyctophobia --- fear of darkness." I said, just copying the format they did.
After introducing ourselves, we need to have a chat about ourselves or we can ask them about themselves or others.
"Sierra, right? Can I ask something a bit personal?" Dahlia asked.
"Sure, ano ba 'yun?" I replied.
"Is your family rich? Because you have a Chinese surname and most Chinese are rich, right?" she blatantly asked.
I am amused by where she gets her shamefulness. Don't get me wrong, it's nice to be friends with them. She's just never shy.
"Well, yeah... My parents are rich. I'm in Ateneo nga, di'ba?" I said.
I felt someone tap my shoulders so I looked around.
"Is this yours?" he said in a cold voice, holding a phone that looks like mine.
I suddenly looked for my phone and when I can't, I turned to him, "Yeah, it's mine. Thank you." I said taking the phone from him.
"Welcome," he said and turned away.
Ang cold nya ha... Pero in fairness, gwapo siya.
I turned back at them and saw them snickering at me.
"Bakit?" I asked.
