What exactly does it mean to have a rival, I mean what makes a rival different from just a regular opponent. The only real difference between the two is that you have at the very least met and competed with the same person a few times but why does that make them so special that they are different from any other opponent you meet. Say you entered a competition, and you had a rival and a random opponent to beat, does considering one of them as a rival make them stronger than the opponent, of course not but then what difference does it make at that point if someone is a rival or a random stranger. At the end of the day if you are competing for the same thing then a rival and a regular opponent are no different from one another, you just put someone on a pedestal that they may not have asked to be put on simply because you have seen them on at least a few occasions.
Whilst walking home after another dull day of school, Salia still seemed to be racking her brain on a way for me to fight someone new, I don't care all that much if I fight someone but at least this topic is making for a quiet and peaceful walk home. Well, it was at least until when we neared my house, I sensed something inside, it wasn't Ms Sputtermill, it was something more, fierce, like when I make Ms Sputtermill mad, but I haven't done anything like that for a few days now. As we got close, what I was sensing was only getting fiercer, I told Salia to hang back while I dashed to the house to see what was going on. I don't know what is in there, but I know what ever it is won't go down easy. As I got to the house a slammed the door open and made my way to the living room to see what was going on and I can safely say that was the biggest mistake of my life. There in the centre of the room was one of the guys I hoped I wouldn't have to see anytime in the next century. There are many beings I have met that I would prefer to not have to meet up with lest I end up risking my own life, but this was a being that I never once felt afraid of, but so god damn annoyed by! 'What the hell are you doing here, Volt!!!'.
Before me stood a guy who was definitely powerful but also one of the most irritating beings you could ever find in the entire galaxy, 'Hahaha! It is good to see you in good health my great rival!', Volt Thunderstrike, a descendant of one of the original gods of the universe, to be more specific he is the descendant of the leader of those gods, Almighty Zeus. Volt is a powerful and righteous guy who has saved countless lives across the universe and is known as a legendary hero; Then there is the other thing he is known for which is that he is the most reckless, clueless, and downright idiotic person to ever live. Sure, he has done a lot of good deeds and stopped a lot of bad people but he's made just as many mistakes. One time I watched as he accidentally destroyed half of a town on a distant planet just to stop a rampaging beast when as it turns out the beast in question was nothing more than an illusion being created by some stupid kid magicians. Something I figured out right away, but Volt didn't realise until after he completely drained all of his power to finally realise his attacks weren't working because there was nothing to really hit. The worst part was I beat him in a sparring match once when I was younger where we didn't even use our powers and since then he has always referred to me as his great rival and would keep challenging me every single time I saw him to the point I had no choice but to start avoiding him just to get some peace.
'Volt, let me make something clear, I know what you are doing here, I know what you are about to ask and so I will only say this once, I will not fight you, ever'. Just like always though the minute I deny his challenge he starts to do his big heroic speech, 'My great rival, we are some of the most powerful beings to ever exist and as descendants of the original gods, it is our duty to protect this universe from all evil threats, and so we must fight for the sake of improving our own selves so that we can better protect those in need, so come on, what do you say?', 'No'. I'm not going to even try to give him room to argue, I'll answer as quickly and bluntly as I can and eventually he'll leave, I've just got to make sure I don't give him the slightest hint that I've been looking for a fight, 'Oh hey you want to fight Sol, well that's just perfect as he was wondering when he would next get to fight against someone for his trial', 'SALIA!!!'. The last thing I needed him to hear, and she just has to catch up now and blurt that out! 'Then it is settled my great rival, we will do battle in an empty field I saw on my way here, I suggest you give it your all as I won't be holding back, it is time to see if this weird training you have been doing has actually benefitted you at all'.
