Halloween night had steadily approached, making it's way all through town. The whole place was buzzing with costumes and decorations, each unique to one another. Only dim street lights lined the town, giving off a soft glow. You had prepared for this night all October, over excited by your favorite holiday. You considered yourself a Halloween fanatic, dressing your house up in the best decorations and lights. Even your inner decor was themed around the holiday.
Your plans for tonight would go flawlessly. They had to with all the planning you had done. You'd watch a scary movie, then go to that haunted house down the street, then finish off the night with a candy binge. "It will be perfect" you though to yourself, putting on your costume hurriedly. You had decided to go as a classic monster this year; an elegant Vampire. It was the best option in your mind. Vampires were sexy and powerful, who wouldn't want to be one?
You skipped along the sidewalk, humming a tune to yourself without a care in the world. This would be the best Halloween night ever. Even if you didn't have anyone to spend it with, it'd still be the best, no matter what ensued.
You approached the ticket booth, smiling at worker. "I'd like one ticket to the Scary Movie, please!" you say cheerfully, practically bouncing up and down from excitement. The worker sighed and rang you up, handing you your ticket. Leaving all other thoughts out the window, you rush to the theater and pick the best seat, rocking in your chair a bit from the joy you feel in your chest. The picture starts to play on the screen, making you squeal from happiness. A few people shush you and you sink into your seat, a bit embarrassed. Sitting still was hard, let alone staying quiet, but you were determined to see this movie without any issues.
Later, when the movie was over, you dash out of the theater, wanting to hurry over to the haunted house. You were far too excited to slow down, almost tripping the whole way there. Soon enough, you had arrived at the haunted house.
The house was eerie, standing tall with a big porch. You approach the house, goosebumps already lining your shoulders. This was the kind of thrill you loved. The feeling of anticipation was exhilarating and made your spook loving heart flutter. It was like you were a kid again, experiencing Halloween for the first time. The air around you grows cold, fog appearing at your feet. A chill runs down your spine as you hear maniacal laughter from in front of you.
You see a mysterious stranger appear from a smoke cloud. He is dashingly attractive and is dressed as a regal looking vampire, his sleek black hair flowing in the light breeze. Violet eyes glowing in the dark of the night, his smile fanged. This stranger begins to walk down the steps of the haunted house, his elegance notable...except for when he trips and falls on his cape, landing on top of you.
The boy's eyes go wide, realizing he had fallen directly into your chest. His face turns an unhealthy shade of red and he stammers a bit, unable to speak in this situation. After a few seconds of frozen shock, he seems to have regained his composure.
"Oh my gosh! I am so so sorry!" the stranger jumps up suddenly, looking away to hide the blush on his face.
He chuckles awkwardly and holds out a hand, well his one hand, "Um, I'm Streber...Sorry again" the stranger smiles, hoping you'll forgive him.
"Don't be sorry! You just tripped. It's all good!" you shake his hand and smile, trying to reassure him.
Streber bounces on his heels and looks around "So uh...what's your name?" he asks sheepishly.
"Oh right! Sorry, I should have introduced myself, too. It's (y/n)" you say in a soft tone, careful not to alarm this shy boy.
There's an awkward air around you two. Streber seems to be avoiding eye contact, looking everywhere but your eyes. You clear your throat to cut through the silence, snapping Streber's gaze back to you, though he still doesn't look into your eyes. "I guess I'll just...go in now." you suggest, thinking it may be better off if you leave to the haunted house as you had planned.
Streber steps aside and gestures for you to go inside, giving you a small smile. You happily skip inside, forgetting about him entirely. Well almost. Streber still lingered in your mind. The way he smiled, his violet eyes that shone with every soft look he gave. Then a realization dawned on you. That's what you could of said to him! His costume was the same as yours. You were both dressed as Vampires. Now you felt silly. How could you have missed such a golden opportunity?
All through the rest of your night, Streber passed through your thoughts, invading your mind. What was so special about him? No one else had even caught your eye and yet, you started to believe in love at first sight. Could that be what this feeling is? Was the feeling mutual? Streber had avoided your gaze the whole time. Was that something to read into?
When you arrived home, you empty your candy into a large bowl and plopped on the couch, turning on the TV. Then another though crossed your mind. You whip out your phone and begin searching.
"How to know if the cute Vampire boy I met likes me or not"
Nevermind. This is silly. Why would you even bother searching that? It's not like you'll ever see him again. Which kinda sucked because you could have made a new friend tonight, or even more. You roll over on the couch, groaning into a pillow. How could you be so dumb? You begin to drift off to sleep, only to wonder if you'll ever meet this charming boy again. If you do, you know you'll do it right next time!
