           Her eyes glowed in fury.
           Again. She let Mari-soo rise.
How much she hated Mari-soo! That perfect know-it-all, ms goody-too-shoes,  Mari-soo was a standard Mary Sue . Even her name sounded like one. That was because the author of this story, Crisendra Crescent made her one, even though not intentionally. As a Mary Sue , everyone is supposed to like Mari-soo , but there has to be an antagonist anyways. Therefore, Crisendra created Yeong Yan. The only one person who hates Mari-soo.
Even though Mari-soo was created to be loved, it wasn't hard to say why. Her silky smooth long hair, the watery eyes and those slender long legs were fragments of her beauty. People tend to like beautiful people. Her personality so sweet, her kindness poured into everyone's eyes and that soft gaze reflecting the innocence within... it was easy to see why people like her.
However, Yan detested her. She detested every bit of Mari-soo. Except that one person who gave his heart to Mari. He was the future king, the symbol of dashing, Mari's lover and Yan wanted him wholly for herself. In short, she loved him but he loves Mari-soo and Mari loves him back. This love triangle sparked the envy slumbering deep inside Yan and she wanted Mari-soo to disappear right away.
That was not possible. Mari-soo was the female protagonist after all. And the prince, Eom Jun , was the male protagonist. They were destined for each other and there was no room for any Yan. Yan tried to take Jun for herself but always fails. Crisendra wouldn't want anything bad to happen to her protagonist anyway. The whole story would be pointless unless it was the ending. Yan was just made to create all the tensions.
Just this time, Yan wanted to make Mari look sloppy before her meeting with Jun. She pushed Mari into the pool, resulting in making Mari wet. Yes, she got soaked but not sloppy. Her wetness made her seem even more charming and poor, as if a damsel in distress. When Jun saw her, he immediately pitied her and called her to change. After that, they still met, and Jun asked so much about how she was feeling after this incident. Yan unintentionally made Jun showed even more care to Mari.
As she looked at the couple, Yan experienced a mixed feeling. Of jealousy but more of sadness. "Why?" she asked softly. "Why do you love her and not I?" She said to Jun very softly so that he would not hear her. "Why?" She didn't notice it was because of all those nasty little things she did, it made everyone dislike her more and more through time. "It has to be Mari," she convinced herself. " It was Mari who wanted less of me so she keep telling Jun and everyone else some falsely wrong things about me! Or else why?" Mari and Yan were both maids. However, the prince fell head over heels with Mari and she soon became a pretty much respectable person in the court. Yan didn't understand why their lives were so different.
"Why did he loved her?" Yan thought. In her opinion, she was a beautiful person herself. That was true. She also had silky smooth long hair and slender legs. The difference was probably in the look their eyes. Mari's eyes were bright and vibrant while Yan's were big but full of those ugly thoughts she had. That didn't count much. Did that? She thought. She was wrong. Eyes were a mirror of the person inside and it reflected every bit of inner ugliness Yan had.
She noticed her tears dropping as Mari and Jun hugged. Why am I crying? She didn't know that. She only knew she was hoping there was a place where people love her. As she can find none here.
