Alone

The skies had darkened, the eyes which came from the hills shut and when I turned to the horizon... I was met with nothing.

The year is 2049, I have been through... a lot. Through me came an age of exploration. My body and mind both harvested to further humanities endeavours, my fathers endeavours.

Am I dead? Alive? Or simply existing... I may never know anymore, I feel like I have been floating for decades now. Walking endlessly, breathing endlessly... seeing endlessly.

I am just existing, no idea how to progress but I'm here knowing that I have done a lot. That offers no one else but me... some reassurance. I hate myself for thinking that way, for being put down to such a level... but I'm here now. That's it, I'm just here now.

Blood pouring through my veins, my breathing hitched as I walk around the developed city. As if just by looking at the sky I would be reminded of the good old days where it was blue. Now it is just yellow, stained yellow and dirty like the human race. I can walk endlessly mocking humans for their inability to see past their ignorance. Sure, the technology is high and the species is advanced. However, a home is to be lived in, not slowly suffocating you.

Walk with me for a second please, anyone please. The holograms in the sky, the soaring buildings and the trash piling up on the ground... ignore all that and walk with me. You know, I could stare at your face all day and never grow tired.

What will be your reply? Speak to me and tell me, you look... like a good joe... a handsome one too. So it's alright, can you walk with me? I feel like I've been floating for so long, I need you right now, please accompany me for a while?

My name... I honestly don't think I want to say it but I'm still me. Decades have gone by, so slowly I witnessed how humans progressed but it wasn't like I was awake. I missed... 30 years of my life for blood and science. Humans evolve in a way that they need a push.

I can sleep forever and they wouldn't care. I could go for decades being missed by my loved ones and never know who they are anymore. My memories muddled into goo that can't be shaped.

The year is 2049, 30 years since I disappeared and now I have awoken to a face I don't know, in a room that was unfamiliar and a smell that made me sick. My nostrils flared, my fingers twitched and my eyes bulged as I began to huff... huffing but the woman who was looking down on me remained still. Even as I flicked my head from side to side... even as the restraints on my body were burrowing into my skin...

"Mhm!??!!! Agh!!! Argh!!!! Rahhh!!!!" I couldn't break free and my screams... they were all muffled by the hand that was over my mouth.

Her lips parted and she spoke. "Shh... it's alright, calm down. How are you?" Her voice was soft, my ears were zoned in and she clearly made an impact on me.  "I'm right here okay? Don't worry, it's alright."

"What's my name? Why should I tell you? We only just me you know hihi." I reached out and held onto your hand. "But just for you, I will tell you. My name is Kei."

It's dark, a light in the sky. The light which signalled the start of nightfall. From midnight all exterior lights would be turned off and... a spectacle would meet our sights. The stars and the galaxy beyond to escape to, a place so vast that I want to delve into...

I get that, just looking at you and I can tell you probably feel the same way. In a way you want to try and explore some more right? Go out and travel, find a nice place to live in... maybe have some responsibilities or duties.

I want to live, travel too and be able to have fun you know? It's not a bad wish but sometimes I think it is the hardest thing to wish for. It's starry, bright and as the dark around me was coming I couldn't help but look up at the starry night. It's around us all the time but now... I feel like it's close to us.
