Happily Ever After (The End)

Huo Buyi lay down next to her and both of them proceeded to catch up on sleep. Huo Buyi woke up only to attend to Shao Sheng. He fed her medicine, confinement tea and assisted her with toileting. That evening, after Shao Shang had fallen back asleep, he made his way to the baby's nursery. The baby looked so tiny, the nanny taught Huo Buyi to carry the baby. He learnt the do's and don'ts from the nanny. Huo Buyi's heart was overwhelmed with love! He looked dotingly into Xiao Yu's eyes and said, 'You have your mother's enchanting eyes, small mouth and my tall nose. Thank you for coming into our lives. Please grow up healthy and listen to your mother. She went through a lot to bring you into the world.' Xiao Yu seemed to understand as he responded with cooing.

Early the next morning, he carried Xiao Yu to Shao Shang. Shao Shang was stirred when she heard the baby's coos. She sat up and Huo Buyi placed Xiao Yu on Shao Shang's arm. He said, 'Our Xiao Yu looks just like you. The nanny encourages you to try to feed him. It's about his milk time.' Huo Buyi gently helped Shao Shang undress such that one side of her breast was showing, he guided Shao Shang to bread feed Xiao Yu. Both of them were smiling from ear to ear when they saw Xiao Yu latching on so well. Huo Buyi also guided Shao Shang to change Xiao Yu's nappy. After which Huo Buyi told Shao Shang that he would attend to some work before returning with a light snack. He bade Shao Shang a kiss on the lips, while he bade Xiao Yu a kiss on his cheek before he left the room. Shao Shang was feeling puzzled, she wondered how her husband know so much about mother's and baby's caregiving. Not long after the nanny entered the room and during their conversation, the nanny shared that she was employed when General Huo learnt about Shao Shang's pregnancy and actually, the nanny had been taking care of Shao Shang's meals ever since then. The nanny added that nappy changing and breastfeeding weren't General Huo's only learnt skills. He had acquired the skills of burping and bathing for the baby too. Shao Shang was reminded of those moments when Huo Buyi took care of her. The nanny's words stirred her heart.

It was around this time when Huo Buyi came into the room. The nanny took her leave with Huo Yu. Huo Buyi sat in front of her, and he adjusted her hair. Huo Buyi held her face and asked, 'Why are you looking at me like this?' Shao Shang smiled replying, 'Your eyes are dazzling. I am smitten. You are drowning me with your love. What am I supposed to you without you?' Huo Buyi brushed her nose with his finger, he held her closed and planted a kiss on her lips. He kissed her even more and whispered, 'That day will never come, I will love you with all my life and in this life you are the only one who will accompany me. It will only be you and can only be you. You are my life, Shao Shang.' He continued to kiss her passionately, accompanied by some stroking of her back.  Seeing that she was aroused, he stopped. He said, 'Even after giving birth, you are very enticing, but we will have to wait until you recover more.' Huo Buyi kissed her forehead and lay her down.

Under the care and guidance of Huo Buyi and Empress Quan, Shao Shang was recovering well and Huo Yu was gaining weight and height too! Forty days of confinement passed in a blink of an eye. Huo Buyi had tied up the loser ends of the work in both Xing Wang Town and Ping An Town. He made the necessary arrangements to move them up north. Huo Buyi talked to Shao Shang and Huo Yi about his plan to take them up north in a month. After her confinement, Shao Shang started to resume her work in the medical and architecture manuscript. One afternoon, Huo Buyi came up from behind her and gave her a bear hug. He said, 'I wonder what is my beautiful wife doing here?' He turned her around, carried her, placing her on the table.

He spread her legs gently, placing himself in between, Huo Buyi placed his hand behind her lower back pulling her closer to him. He caressed her soft skin with the other hand while he started to kiss her, making his way from her collarbone to her neck, her ears and his final stop to her soft, parting lips. Huo Buyi felt her heartbeat pulsing. He chuckled, 'You never fail to sweep me off my feet. Even after so many times, you never fail to ignite that warmness in my heart.' He gave her a peck on her forehead. The day for them to make their move to the north had arrived. They rode away in the horse carriage to begin a new journey, another chapter of their lives. Just like what Shao Shang said, 'The sun, the moon, and the galaxy. Neither is superior or inferior. Not a single one can be cast aside. Only by coexisting can we create this world.'  

The Huos moved to the north and had five good years there before making their way to different parts of the country to serve the people. Together, Shao Shang and Huo Buyi had five boys and one girl. The couple's story ended with them annoying each other until their fair turned grey.
