"where are your keys?"
jake looked at heeseung for a good second and then reached his pocket, taking out his house key. "here," he answered quietly. heeseung took them from jake's hand, avoiding his gaze. while he was unlocking the door, he asked "are you ok?"
"i'll be fine," jake answered before heeseung opened the door. they both entered the house. heeseung looked around, "you should go to your bedroom. i'll help you." jake nodded, but he couldn't not notice the way his chest tightened and his breath quickened.
with a firm grip on jake's arm, heeseung guided him to his bedroom, taking cautious steps to ensure he didn't stumble. they entered jake's room and heeseung helped him settle onto the bed. jake closed his eyes, trying to regain some strength. as heeseung hovered nearby, he noticed how the room seemed to be an extension of jake's inner self—edgy, unpredictable, and strangely alluring.
"alright, let's cool you down," heeseung said, snapping out of his thoughts. first, he made sure the curtains were drawn and then he turned on the fan. "i'll be right back." he said before leaving the room.
for a few minutes, jake was lost in the sound of the fan, the cool breeze it produced and the image of heeseung's body, swaying slightly as he walked away. the heat was suffocating, making him sweat and pant.
"okay," heeseung said as he returned to jake's bedroom. jake noticed that heeseung was carrying a wet towel and a bottle of water.
heeseung knelt on the floor, right next to jake. he used the towel to wipe jake's face, and the younger closed his eyes, trying to focus on heeseung's touch rather than on the throbbing in his head. heeseung then proceeded to wet the towel again with some water before applying it on jake's forehead, cooling him down.
"feeling any better?" heeseung asked in a low, almost melodious tone.
"your healing abilities are top-notch," jake whispered back, still having his eyes closed. he thought that if he opened his eyes and looked and heeseung, his heart was going to explode. heeseung smiled slightly at jake's statement.
jake opened his eyes, watching heeseung with a mix of affection and frustration. heeseung was caring, maybe too caring, and it made jake's heart ache in a way he couldn't quite comprehend. just then, he felt a sudden urge to kiss him. heeseung seemed to sense it too because he leaned in closer, his lips almost touching jake's.
just then, the doorbell rang, interrupting the moment. heeseung sighed and got up from the floor. "i'll go get it," he said before leaving the room. jake lay there for a few more minutes, trying to calm his racing heart.
as heeseung opened the door, jake heard a familiar voice. It was sunghoon. "jake? are you here?" he called out. heeseung watched him enter jake's room, following him closely. he noticed that he carried a bag of food.
sunghoon sat on the edge of jake's bed. "are you feeling any better?" he asked, handing jake the bag. jake looked surprised but happy to see him and thanked sunghoon for his visit.
heeseung rolled his eyes at their interaction. how did he even know? he approached jake and took the bag out of his hand. "i'll get this in the kitchen," he said before storming out of the room.
