A/N: For context: Meilin is like another Miles in this story...in a way. Also, I own this artwork

Meilin was in her room, blasting her hyper-pop music from her headphones while drawing in her sketchbook. That was until her mother called her.

"Mei!" No response.
"Meilin!" She still didn't respond.
"Meilin Yijun!" The said girl finally takes notice and lifts an ear cup from her head.

"Yes, Ma?" Mei listened to her mother's voice, and now her mother is the one playing 'no responses'.

"Yes, Ma!?" Meilin took her headphones off and placed them on her shoulders as she raised her voice.
"YES, MA!?" She yelled louder...nothing.

She groaned and threw off her headphones while exiting her room to talk to her parent. "YES!?"

"Don't raise your voice, Mei..!" Her mum scolded, crossing her arms. Meilin's mother's name is Jing. She was a caring woman with an okay job. Not to mention she was a single mother was impressive.

Meilin looked at her, mouth agape. "You-you were just-" She groaned in frustration. "What is it?"

"Did you pack your bag for school?" Her mum asked, tapping a finger on her arm.

"Yeah..." It took a second for Meilin to process the question properly. "Wait-what?"

Jing raised an eyebrow, waiting for a proper answer from her daughter.

"I..." She debated whether to tell the truth or not. "I kinda forgot..!" She awkwardly smiled, and her mother sighed in response.

"Well, you better hurry up..!" Jing pats Meilin's back and leaves for work as the girl just stands there.

"...crap..." She mumbled to herself as she quickly began to get ready. But it doesn't get better after that.

Meilin stared at the blackboard with an inattentive expression as she tapped the pen on her desk, bored in class.

All she heard was gibberish while her eyes slowly began growing droopy. The teacher at the front and the rest of the surroundings began to be blurred due to the overwhelming boredom.

Finally, the bell goes off which snaps her back to reality. She watched as the students were dismissed as they began to pack up their things.

Meilin sighed in relief as she joined them as well, happy to leave at last.

Abruptly, the teacher raised his hand to stop the class. "No, no, no..! The bell doesn't dismiss you! I do!"

Everyone groaned, including Mei, and they all fell back into their seats like a chain reaction.

'When is this gonna finish!?' She complained in her thoughts, staring up at the ceiling. She supposed she could find patterns in the meantime.

Later that day, after that torture, Meilin heads home to the street she usually took to find out it was being fixed. Alright, that's fine! She'll just take the long way by bus!
Yeah...the bus was a tad bit crowded...At least she found a seat!

Meilin kept her eyes to herself as she looked at her knees, not looking up at anyone. The atmosphere was awkward and tense, as usual.

She took out her headphones and played 'Hello?' by Clairo. She adored chill songs when she was in a bad mood.

The bus started to get more crowded, and Meilin started to get more uncomfortable, so she put her headphones to max volume and continued to ignore her current situation.
