The Departure

DAY 412 - Year 20XX / 7 / 22

I have spent just over a year in the shuttle. I haven't been much use to anyone, I know this because I haven't been called on any mission or supply runs. However today I have been called to action! As of right now I don't know what I will be doing... But it's better than sitting around while my friends drives me insane.

I enter the Work-Drone ready to depart from the shuttle
"You sure your ready for this?" Martin asks through our comms.
"Yeah, it's about time I did something useful." I carefully reply. Martin doesn't seem to like the idea of being alone in the shuttle while I'm off working. He even asked HQ if he could assist in any way. But they turned his offer down.
"Ok then. HQ DRONE-1 ready for departure. Give me the signal and I'm all go." I exclaim. and then suddenly the words appear on  my screen *ACCESS GRANTED* and then I'm off, on my way through space to collect minerals from a nearby Meteor. 

It takes me 2 hours to arrive at the Meteorite. But when I get there, I am forced to search the Meteor for a clear landing spot where I can easily get resources. Thankfully this is quite a large meteor and I find a clear spot to land. Once down I activate the drones built laser miner and then start gathering minerals I find myself. it takes about an hour before I have to leave due to having only enough to get back with a little to spare. So after getting out of the decontamination room I deactivate the laser drill and get prepared to wait another 2 hours until I get back to the shuttle. I end up leaving it on autopilot because it recognises the route back to shuttle and lie down in bed. Then suddenly I hear a loud BANG and moments later I'm in the cockpit trying to find find what caused it. But then I look up to find that there are just small meteor that likely hit the drone. There also appeared to be no damage to the drone so I wait until I arrive back to the shuttle.
