May had been walking around Azalea Town for a while and was taking a small break at a small café. She had just finished a Contest and received her 3rd Johto Ribbon. Of course, her friend Drew was there. 'Drew's gotten a lot stronger. He almost beat me in that Cherrygrove City Contest.' May thought to herself as we sat down. Drew was in the finals with May at that Contest; her Blaziken went against his Roserade. Of course May won. Drew even gave "Beautifly" another Rose - what, it's 8th or so? May even still had it; it was in her hand now. She enjoyed looking at it as she slowly turned it with her fingers. 'I wonder what Drew's doing now...' May thinks to herself again. She looked out the window and put away the Rose. She was planning what she would do at the next Contest in Ecruteak City. 'I could use Blaziken in the Performance Stage... Maybe Beautifly in the Battle Stage. Or even Munchlax. Skitty and Venusaur are also good choices.' May thought to herself as she was wracking her brain trying to assemble her plan. That was when she heard something that really got her attention. "Brianna, haven't you heard? Many Drew fans are talking about it. Can't you believe someone overheard a conversation between Drew himself and Solidad? Do you even know what he said to her? You wouldn't believe it." She heard someone say into a phone. 'Brianna? I know a girl named Brianna.' May thought as she listened closely to the conversation. "According to that girl's blog, Drew told Solidad some secret that he's never told anyone else. He said that those Roses for May's Beautifly? They aren't for Beautifly. They're for MAY. They've always been for May. It seems like our little Drew loves this May." The girl said. May was stunned by what she was hearing. Even more stunned when she heard Brianna's reply. She couldn't hear all of it, but she heard the vast majority of it. "Y'know, I think May might love Drew back. When I met her back at the Chrysanthemum Town Contest, she went on a little about Drew. 'I finally get to show Drew what a good Coordinator I am!' Was one of the things she said I remember. And when I asked her about Drew and how she feels, she was redder than a tomato. I mean, she was clearly hiding her real feelings." May was frozen. 'Was it really that obvious?' She asked herself. Then she replied what she just thought and slapped herself to get it together. 'I - I don't like Drew that way! I can't! I mean, how could I? He may be one of my best friends but I don't think I like him like that. Or do I? No. No. I can't. I just can't.' May was freaking out in her mind. Then her food came, causing her to forget about that whole thing for a short while. After she finished eating and that fangirl left, May snuck out of the restaurant and started her way towards Ecruteak City.

May has been thinking none stop about what she had just overheard, even though she doubted it was true. She was on route to Ecruteak City now, and was on a path in the middle of the woods. It was getting a little dark, so she was looking for a small clearing to spend the night at. She had found one just as the sun went below the horizon. But once she got there, someone else seemed to be there as well. "Drew?" May asks, recognizing his emerald hair and eyes almost immediately. "May? What are you doing here? I thought you'd still be in the last town." "I'm not slow like that. And I'm only in this clearing because I needed to find a place to spend the night." "I'm here for the same reason. I also don't mind if you decide to crash the night here as well." "Really?" "Of course, May. That's what friends are for." "Well, thanks, Drew!" "No problem, May." Their conversation ended there, with May sitting down next to Drew. An almost invisible blush was on Drew's face, but he hid it well. The stars in the sky were shining brightly as the two Pokémon Coordinators stared up at them. After a while May got up and let out a small yawn, causing Drew to smile a little more. "I think I'm going to sleep now, Drew. It's late at night. You should get some rest too." May says, turning to him. Drew was also tired. "Yea. I'm getting exhausted too. See you in the morning, May." He tells her. The two coordinators lay down on the sleeping bags that they had put down earlier, and soon after fell asleep.
