As morning rolled around the two had woken up. "I better get on my way to the next city, May. I've already gotten my 5 Ribbons to enter the Grand Festival. It's being hosted in that city." Drew says as he gets up. May also gets up and puts away her sleeping bag. "Same here. I also got my 5 Ribbons to enter. I can't wait to see you there, Drew!" May exclaimed as she took off onto the route. Drew stood there for a second, seeming a little surprised to her her say that. 'She can't wait to see me there?' He thinks to himself. "Can't wait to see you there too, May!" He exclaims as he begins to run after her. He stops to walk alongside May, who seemed a little confused. 'Why is he walking next to me? He's never walked next to me on route to another town. Maybe he does like me...' May thought to herself. Drew looked over and noticed that May seemed a little upset about something. "You alright, May? You seem a little upset." May quickly answered. "Everything's fine, Drew! Nothing to worry about!" This caused Drew to worry a little more. 'Was it something I said?' He thought to himself as they continued walking.

They finally arrived in Ecruteak City after about less than a day more of walking. May and Drew had done some training with each other along the way, battling each other. Not with Pokémon sometimes; Drew sometimes drove May to the breaking point with teases, which just made Drew laugh even more. May immediately went to the Pokémon Center while Drew decided to look around first. After some time, he bumped into his old friend, Solidad, who he had seen not too long ago. "Solidad?" Drew asked, surprised to see her. "Hey, Drew. I saw you were walking with May for a little while." She said, teasing him a little. He blushed out of embarrassment. "Well, u-um, y-yea-" "Did you tell her how you feel yet?" Solidad cut her off. "After our little conversation two nights ago?" She asked, bringing up a flashback of that night.
- (flashback) -
It was about midnight of two nights ago. Drew was seen talking with Solidad after a Contest he, she, and May had entered earlier that day. Drew had managed to win that Contest. They were standing behind the Contest Hall. "So, I saw you and May up there in the finals." Solidad starts off. Drew looks up at the stars above when he replied. "Yea. She's stronger than ever now." He said quietly. Solidad suddenly realized something about the way he talked at that moment. "May's gotten a lot stronger. She's quite the Coordinator." Solidad says to him. Drew nodded in agreement. It was quiet for a moment. Drew was still looking up. Solidad noticed something about that look she had never seen him have before. She decided to play around with him. "I see what's going on. You love her, don't you, Mr. Rose?" She teased, using that nickname May had called him before. Drew suddenly looked incredibly embarrassed, his face went red and he stopped looking up. Turning to Solidad, he tried to reject the truth. "I-it's not like that at all! I mean, May's a great person and all... But, I, I don't, I mean, I don't think about her like that! She may be, well, kinda cute with a great personality, and one of my best friends... And..." His voice got more quiet as he went on, only to be broken by Solidad's sudden laughter. "You do love her!" Solidad teased further. 'Guess I can't hide it anymore..." Drew thought to himself before he finally told her the truth. "Ok, ok! I admit I love May. But can you please not tell anyone? I-it's kind of embarrassing..." He told her. Solidad stopped laughing and smiled. "Don't worry, your secret's safe with me. I won't tell anyone." She said to him. Drew smiled back. "Anyways, I think it's time to call it a night." He broke the silence. Solidad agreed, and they walked out from behind the building. But, they were unaware of a blonde girl around the corner. She put away a video camera she was holding. She had filmed the whole thing.
- (flashback ends)-
"Well, you see..." Drew said, a little embarrassed at that whole thing. Solidad looked surprised. "Seriously? You didn't tell her?" She says, and Drew nods. "I didn't, not yet." "When will you?" "I will when the time is right." "Which is...?" "I, um, don't exactly know." "What?!" "I said I don't know!" There was silence for a moment. "I see what's going on. You're afraid to tell her, aren't you?" Solidad teased. Drew was even more embarrassed now. "Ok, ok, yes, I am. I just... Don't know if she'll like me back, after all those times I've teased and made fun of her." He admitted, looking upset. Solidad then spoke up. "It's ok. But you'll never know if she'll like you back if you don't ask." Drew nodded. "I see. I will... I'll tell her when I think time is right." The conversation ended there. And they both walked off in opposite directions. But, both were unaware, that May, she was right there. And had heard everything.
