Luna's Pov
I had been dancing ever since I was kid. It was actually really hard for me to get a scholarship because a lot of people don't understand the way certain people dance. We don't really do ballet here either but there are mandatory technique classes. My main style is jazz, hiphop and contemporary though. My dance teacher Mrs. Lambert is much better than my studio teacher with which I won't even name. She always lets us find a way to express ourselves without feeling ashamed. we can cry we can run we can scream. I don't feel the bondage of needing to do everything perfectly or the best. I can just do whatever it is that I know and love doing. I know it's important to challenge yourself but it's nice feeling like I can try something without being afraid of getting it wrong.
Mrs. Lambert told us yesterday that we would have an informational meeting. But she didn't tell us what it was about.
"So guys I recently talked with Coach Smith, and he said that he needed help training his players a bit more and since he didn't know what else to do and was so hopeless," she says mimicking the coach. "he came to me and asked us to help them with their training. So this semester Is going to be a little bit different. I will be pairing each of you guys with a player who you will choreograph and a perform a dance with. You will be doing 4 different dances once per week for this month. And it will count as a grade."
No one seemed to have a problem with this assignment. It's way better than out intended assignment. Most of the dancers watch shows where they turn celebrities into dancers so this is kind of our playground.
"Are we going to pick who we're dancing with?" Rosie states.
"Yeah cause we all know who she wants to dance with." My best friend Destiny whispers to the side of me.
She gives me that look and we both know that she's talking about Aiden! Rosie had a crush on him ever since he got his scholarship. Most of us don't have a problem with him, but I already know how I feel about him. I had made my opinions about him in elementary school when he put pencil shavings in my hair. I punched him for it and he got a black eye so his dad and my dad now also hate each other too. Most people in my dance class don't know that I have a history with him except for Destiny.
"You will not be picking your own partners Coach Smith and I have already paired you guys up. He should be here shortly with the team and you guys will meet you partners and tomorrow and over the weekend you guys can come up with some ideas for your dance this week and get to choreographing because you need to be done by next Friday."
"This is literally demented. How are we supposed to turn some close minded football players into dancers by the end of the week." Destiny says in my ear.
"Well most football players tend to pick up dance pretty easily if you teach them right. I'm fine as long as I don't end up with Aiden."
Just as I say that I hear a knock on the door and Mrs. Lambert is going to answer it.
"Coach Smith! Welcome!" She very bubbly exclaims.
"If you guys could just line up by the mirror?" She asked with a smile on her face.
The team lines up at the mirror and there he was. I Hadn't seen him since May, I was hoping I wouldn't have to see him for the rest of my college years and yet here we are. He made it a point to be a complete idiot in high school and every girl there would just fall for it. like he was some kind of god.
"Alright so I think your coach has filled you guys in on everything that will be happening in this meeting so can we get right to it? Ok so Layla, you'll be partnered up with Ricky."
Layla and Ricky looked like a perfect match. Layla was very shy and She didn't really express herself or talk except when it came to dance. I guess that's her way of communicating. She was pretty with long brown hair and she was short but skinny and she developed a tan over th. Ricky was a skinny guy with that mushroom haircut that's kind of popular among men these days. It's not my favorite but it suits him. I've seen Ricky before though. I think he pledged a frat last year and blacked out on alcohol. I don't think he's drunken anything over 7 proof ever since. At least he knows his limits.
