•Renessa•Today was supposed to be a big day, not for me but for my sister. Today was the day we were making her engagement official, yet here I was fast asleep and tired as hell.
"Renessa?" A gentle shake accompanied the familiar voice.
"Hmm... what, Lizzy?" she mumbled, rolling over to the other side.
"You have to get up now," Lizzy said with a soft smile.
"why..." I whined dramatically, burying herself deeper into the blankets. I can do so because there was no one to witness this.
Lizzy huffed, shaking her head in disbelief. "Did you really forget, Nessa? It's your sister's engagement party!"
I immediately shot up, eyes wide.
"Shit!"
"Don't let your father hear that," Lizzy warned.
"Yeah, right... like I care." A smirk tugged at my lips as I glanced up at the woman i considered family.
"Nessa! Come on, get up and get ready. Your sister will need you."
With a sigh, I threw the blankets off and stretched. "Fine, fine. While I shower, can you get my dress ready?"
"Of course, princess." Lizzy grinned before hurrying out of the room.
I scrubbed her body,
honestly I was dreading this whole party. My sisters wasn't supposed to leave just yet, not so soon at least....and definitely not someone who she knew for barely 3 months. But you know how billionaires think.I wrapped herself in a towel and walked back into her room.
On my bed, a long pink silk dress was laid out for me
—my sister knew me too well I'm sure she she picked out the dress for me.
I slipped it on, carefully pulling up the zipper, but it only made it halfway."Lizzy!" I yelled.
She walked in, wearing a peach-pink dress with flowy sleeves. Lizzy was like a mother to me. She had all of those motherly traits, like feeding you until you gain ten pounds, or giving you those kind smile when you tell her about your day....i wish my own mother was like that. If only I didn't hate her, and she didn't hate her.
"You look beautiful, Lizzy," I complimented.
She smiled warmly. "Thank you, Nessa, but you look even prettier." She helped me zip up my dress.
I grinned. "Which jewelry should I wear?"
She tapped her chin, thinking. "The gold necklace with the pink heart, the gold rings from your mother, and, of course, your family ring. Oh! And your pink diamond earrings—they'll bring out your eyes beautifully." Love a woman with fashion sense
I sighed in relief. "Ahh, thank you. I can always count on you."
Nobody else in this house understood fashion. Literally nobody.
I walked out of my room, Lizzy following close behind. She had been by my side since I was a child, not just as my personal maid but as family. She never judged me, never treated me differently. I loved her more than anything.
Lost in thought, I didn't notice someone in front of me until—
Bump.
I stumbled backward, landing right on my ass.
"Renessa!" Lizzy gasped.
"Ahh, shit. Damn it, my dress is getting dirty." I groaned before looking up. "I'm so sorry—"
