Third person POV:

The world is a hard place, you have to fight just to stay alive. Now a-days, most people wonder if it's even worth it. The world went to shit a long time ago, long before Minx Blood was born, long before her parents' grandparents were born. What she's told in school about the 'end' is the world went to hell when North Korea made a nuclear bomb to destroy the other countries that were bigger than them. Those other countries weren't going to let a small country take over them so the other counties made their own nuclear weapons, which broke out into nuclear warfare until who was left retreated into vaults. Anyone who didn't go underground were blown up when the final bomb called, "War" was dropped. After 100 years of staying in the vaults, one person from each vault went out into the world to see if life was sustainable to live outside the vault in their vault region. None of the tributes came back alive, until year 4003. It wasn't until year 4200 that there was enough areas without radiation that the government said that re-civilization can begin.

The year now is 4690, everyone lives above ground now. So here Minx is, unlike most people, she is an Upper. Life is hard, but at least she isn't a Lower. Uppers and Lowers is the new government. Anyone with a LPA (Life Point Average) below 500 automatically becomes a Lower. Once you're a Lower, there is no coming back. Uppers on the other hand, is anyone with a LPA above 500 through 1000. Uppers can be relocated to the Lowers with the smallest of mistakes. Minx never was very fond of the government, but she was glad they started making cigarettes again, this time without the age limit restriction, life is so hard that everyone needs one.

Minx is 17 years old and smokes like a train. She has short brown hair, with brown eyes. She is rather beautiful, but she is stronger than she appears. "Beauty gains, but strength wins." Her father would tell her, so he taught her how to fight, survive, and how to win.

Minx is sitting in her room smoking a cigarette to calm her down. Her and her family are going to be taken into questioning for some 'things' her father has done. *What could my father possibly have done to get us into this?* She asks herself. She can't think of anything tough, her family is average, other than not having a mother, her life, her father's life, and her little brother's life, shouldn't be of question. But, she can't fight with the government, no one can. She takes one last drag of her cigarette then puts it out. She walks downstairs to her family and they get into the car that is waiting outside for them.

Time skip to questioning:

"Ms. Blood, may you please step into this room? We will be in here shortly to talk to you." A young man, probably in his 20's said kindly to her. She did as she was told and entered the room. It was small and white with chips of paint missing on the walls. She walked over to a chair and plopped down, Minx wasn't the perfect lady-like, woman. She thought of the car ride, that was her first time being in a car. It scared her, yet amazed her how a large, funny shaped piece of metal can move by just moving a few wheels round. Her thoughts were interrupted when the man from earlier came back into the room with four other people. "Ms. Blood, can you come sit over at the table so we can speak with you?" A short fat woman said to her. Minx stood up and plopped into another chair closer to the table. She shot the woman a 'go on' look. The woman snorted and looked through her files. Minx was getting tired and annoyed of just sitting here, having complete strangers stare at her like she's a disgust. "Is there ANY particular reason why I'm here?" Minx snapped at the others in the room. The fat lady looked up from her files and replied just as coldly as Minx's voice "Wouldn't you like to know, sweetheart." She scoffed and looked back down at the files, pulling out two papers, one of Minx's father, the other of her mother. There was a picture of her mother at the edge of the paper, tears swelled in her eyes when she looked at the picture. "Now. Ms. Blood, I would like to know where your father has been past 9:30PM for the past few years." The fat lady asked her. "Working over-time, after mom died..." Her voice cracked, she pushed down the lump in her throat and continued with what she was saying. "After mom died he started working over-time to pay for us." She managed to say. "Is that so? We belie..." Minx cut her off before she could finish what she was about to say "My dad's a good guy, and we've had enough shit to worry about with paying for bills and working, and getting over the death of my mother!" She yelled "What else do you want from us?!" "Ms. Blood, if you do not calm down we will have to sedate you." The woman said with an un-amused expression. "We have proof that your father has been leaving work at 9:30PM, the time he gets off, and meets with others trying to build a rebellion. We will relocate you and your little brother to the Lowers, since you have no mother you will have to care for your younger brother, Issac. Do you understand, Ms. Blood? You and Issac will say goodbye to your father one last time and you will be relocated, never to see him again." Minx could feel her heart breaking, not for her, but for her brother who was only 7. Minx could only nod, with silent tears falling down her cheeks.
