Waking up in a comfortable bed, it took me a moment to remember where I was. The fifth dimension. Hell. On a hunt that would lead me to either success at rescuing the girl I was into...or certain death.

I sat up, rubbing my eyes, getting whatever eyeliner was still on my eyes on the sides of my fingers. I yawned and stretched then got up and took a quick shower. I pulled my clothes back on and started grabbing provisions from Giana's kitchen, which was surprisingly stocked full with human food. I mean, I figured a vampire would have mostly blood stored in their fridge.

"So this friend of yours?" Giana asked, making me jump. I hadn't realized that she'd entered the room. "What's she worth to you?"

"What?"

"What would you do for her?"

"We're friends."

Giana gave me a look that said that she could tell I was lying. Which she probably could. She was a vampire, after all.

I sighed. "Fine. I'm into her, okay. She's everything to me. I can't lose her."

"So I would be safe in saying that you would be willing to die for her? Give up everything to save the girl who means everything?"

"I guess you could say that."

"Why do the higher-ups want you? You're just some silly human boy chasing after the girl he wants." Giana leaned against the table, watching me closely.

"I don't know what they want with me. According to Chiya, I'm not entirely human, but I don't know what that means. I'm so sick of not knowing. The only thing I know is that I've had dreams of Hell and now those dreams are coming true."

Giana was quiet for a minute...then "That door. I've seen it before."

"I never seem to get out of the room that it's in," I said. "I always wake up right before they get me, but I never seem to be able to open the door and escape."

"You can't escape that room. That door never opens to let anything out, only to take things in." Giana looked at me with a look of concern and sadness. "That's the door to the ninth dimension. And no one ever comes out of there once they're in."
