"baby, no, what do you mean by "we can't do this anymore" you asked your boyfriend as tears swole in your eyes.

"y/n, you know what i mean. your family literally won't talk to you because of me. i'm not gonna sit here like that's okay" mark answered

"mark, stop saying that. i don't care if they won't talk to me anymore, i wanna be with you"

"no, y/n, you need to care about it. when was the last time you talked to your mom?" mark asked as he looked down at you, waiting for an answer.

you became quiet as tears streamed down your face, and you broke eye contact with mark. he was completely right. you hadn't talked to your mother in at least 3 months. it was a huge jump from your usual tight-knit relationship.

mark sighed before he lifted your chin with his finger. "i'm not gonna let you ruin your relationship because of me" he said, softly.

you tried to think of something to say but nothing ever came to your head. your heart skipped a few beats as you realized that there was no way you were gonna win this battle - that this relationship was ending.

you finally let out a sob before leaning into his body, hugging him as tight as you could

"hey, hey, hey" he whispered. "it'll be alright, i promise."

that was the first lie

"why can't we just leave?" you asked, still trying to find a way to get past this.

"that's not a rational idea, baby" he replied as he held you, his chin now resting on your head.

"what do you mean by that?" you asked, tears streaming down your face.

you were desperate for answers, although you already knew them. you were in disbelief that the happiest times you've had in your life were coming to an end.

he kissed the top of your head.

"i'll love you forever, you know that?" he spoke softly while drawing shapes on your arm with his finger.

that was the second lie

you didn't respond. all you did was lean into his chest some more, wishing that this was some horrible dream.

"one day, our dream will come to life. we'll be together forever, and no one would say shit about it." he said.

that was the third lie

you closed your eyes as you silently cried, not knowing what to say.

mark ended up staying the night. the two of you barely spoke, but stayed up for most of the night. there was a horrible silence that was in the room. it only made your heart ache more.

the next morning, he kissed you one last time before leaving your apartment. that was the very last time you had ever seen him.
