"Jennie hurry, the taxi is here!" Dad yelled up the stairs. I huff as I processed what he said and glanced down at my hands."What am I missing?" I mumble to myself. "Oh, my phone." I searched my bed for it as I carried my suitcase in hand. Once I find it I'm running down the stairs and out the door. I was going to the city of New York to finish my last two years of high school and dad only agrees because I'm going to spend those years at his best friend's house.
"Got everything kiddo?" He asked as I meet him in front of the taxi. I tilt my head at him.
"Dad, I thought we talked about this. I'm 18, turning 19 in two weeks, I'm too old for kiddo," I said. He chuckled.
"You will never be too old, you'll always be my baby girl," He said. I smiled. After we got our suitcases in the taxi we hopped in the taxi Jeong the taxi driver turned glanced at us through the mirror.
"What music do you recommend?" He asked. I smiled.
"Country please." He nods and turns it on. I turn to dad as we start moving.
"Hey dad how long are you staying?" I asked.
Two weeks. Why? Are you bored of me already?" He asked.
"No just wanted to know," I giggled.
"I know kiddo," He said. I roll my eyes at him and look at the window
After 5 hours of sleep, 3 hours of watching movies on the plane, 2 hours of talking with dad we were in New York. Dad was the first one to get off the plane. He looked down at his phone for a while and I took that chance to gladly look around. He looked up from his phone and began to walk in a direction. I followed until he hummed. He walked up to Dae and Ron.
Ron and dad have been friends since high school. Dae and dad have been friends since grade school. I've known them both since birth.
Ron brought me into a bear hug. Then Dae did as well. Since they moved to New York we hardly ever see them."Well 10 hours later and here you are," Dae says. I smile.
I look at my surroundings and see a limbo. I focused on it and watched as a man and a guy around my age walked out of it.
The older man I've seen on TV plenty of times. His name is Jeon Kwan. The most famous billionaire. I know what publicly does to people.
Which is why
I want to have an interview with him. I watched the young man turn around and stare at me. I've never seen him before. I set my suitcase on the ground and took my camera that was around my neck to snap a picture. He looked curious as he watched me. The sounds of people gathering around him caught his attention so he turns and walks in the building that soon becomes surrounded by people with cameras.
"Jen!" Dae says. I glance back at her.
"Yes?" I asked. She giggles.
"The Jeon's are pretty interesting to look at huh?" I nod.
"Would you want to meet them?" Ron says. I look up at him.
"The Jeon's?" I thought about it. That guy with him was his son.
"Yeah, Kwan and his son Jeon Jungkook," Ron said.
"You said meet them? As in, can you make that happen?" I asked. He chuckled.
"Kwan and I are longtime friends. He joins us for dinner every Sunday. I will give him a call. I guess it's better if you meet them now rather than later." He said. We hopped in the fancy Lincoln car they bought and headed to their cozy home.
On the ride there I stared out the window enjoying the view of the city.
Everything was bright and full of enjoyment.
Everyone looked like they were having a good time. The outfits in the windows of the stores were fun bright colors and they shined in the sunlight. The air filled with the sweet smell of fresh donuts and chocolate. Music played from the restaurants around as people filled the streets.
When we got into their house I gladly walked around admiring their taste. It was a four bedroom house that was painted a chalky blue color with white covering the base boards.
Most of the back of the house was covered in a glass window viewing down in their backyard.
You had a great view of the pool and hot tub. I was in love with New York already.
