Chapter 4 - Every Action Has a Consequence

"Yes, I'd like to speak to Nadja Shamack, please." 

"Of course, please hold." Waiting music played quietly, and the woman got impatient.

"quanto tempo ci vorrà?" She muttered in Italian. (translates to How long is this going to take?)

"Nadja Chamack, who am I speaking to?" The news reporter asked the woman.

"Oh, just a person who knows about things happening at Collège Françoise Dupont, involving Marinette Dupain-Cheng. I understand you have a close relationship with them."

"Well, Marinette is my god-daughter. What is happening there?"

"What would you like to know?"

"Hi, I'm Nadja Chamack, and welcome back to the new show, Actions and Consequences! Lila Rossi, Marinette Dupain-Cheng and Alya Cesaire, and their parents and class teacher, Caline Bustier are joining me tonight. Welcome!" Nadja announced.

"Thank you for having us, Nadja." Marinette thanked. 

"You're welcome! Now, let's start by asking a few questions. I have heard that there is a bit of tension in your class. Miss Bustier, care to explain?"

"Well, it started a few months ago, when Lila moved to the class from Italy. She was immediately accepted by her classmates, but I noticed that Marinette seemed a bit standoff-ish. That's when the threats started. 

"Lila told me that one of her classmates had threatened her in the bathrooms. She specifically used the word her, which meant it was a girl. I told her to be careful and to tell me who it was. She told me she didn't want to get them in trouble. I respected her decision but told her that if it happened again, she would tell me.

"I later heard from Alya that it was Marinette who was threatening Lila in the bathrooms. I gave Marinette a warning, but she didn't listen. it escalated from threats to the destruction of property, beating, and fights, as well as theft.

"Marinette did end up getting suspended for a couple of days. She had been expelled once, but Lila managed to convince the principal to let her back into school. Slowly, Marinette's friends abandoned her, as they didn't want to be friends with a bully. Surprisingly, Marinette became friends with Chloe, the mayor's daughter. But it has been getting worse and worse since." Lila was silently sobbing, Alya's arms around her. Miss Rossi just looked at her daughter with disgust. 

"Miss Bustier, I have a question for you." She said. "Was there any evidence that Marinette had done these things to Lila?"

"Um, I mean, there wasn't ever any evidence-"

"So, you didn't know if Lila was lying or not?"

"Well, no. But I'm shocked, I thought you would stand up for your daughter."

"Ladies, please calm down!" Nadja said. "Miss Bustier, so you are saying that Lila came to you without any evidence that Marinette had done these things to her?"

"Well, um, yes." Miss Bustier stuttered. 

"That's not true! She always had blood on her, or had her torn-up items near her! And, as always, Marinette came late every time!" Alya objected.

"Ah, Alya Cesaire, creator of the Ladyblog, or should I say, Lilablog. I first interviewed you when your blog was most popular, as it was all about the adventures of Ladybug and Cat Noir as they took down akumatized villains. If you look at the chart on the screen," Nadja projected a line graph with the number of views since Lila came. "You'll see that your views went down quickly. Care to explain?"
