Chapter Twenty-One

Matt slowly sat up in his hospital bed and looked around the room. Gabby sat asleep in a chair, her hand rested on her stomach. Matt then leaned down and moved Gabby's hand, making her jump up. "Sorry, I didn't mean to wake you!" "I'm so glad you did!" Gabby exclaimed standing up and kissing Matt, Matt kissing her back. "How long was I out for?" he asked laying back down, Gabby running her hand through his hair, the bandage no longer there. "3 whole days" Gabby said, Matts eyes widening. "Oh man Chiefs gonna kill me" he said, making Gabby laugh. "Matt I don't think he's going to care. As long as you're awake and alive, that's all that'll matter to him" Gabby replied Matt smiling, Matt suddenly watching as Gabby sat down, closing her eyes. "Whoa..." she said lowly, Matt sitting up. "Hey... Babe... You okay?" he asked, Gabby looking up and nodding. "Yeah, I'm good. I've been dizzy" Matt then remembered the pregnancy test Gabby had taken, and he never got to know what happened. "Did you take the test?" Matt asked, Gabby looking him in his eyes. She nodded and then placed her hand on her stomach, giving a small grin. "I'm pregnant" she told him, the words striking Matt hard. All of the sudden a big grin spread across Matts face, Gabby smiling back. "Really?" he asked, Gabby standing up, Matt scooting over, making room for her in the hospital bed. Gabby laid down next to him and she placed his hand on her lower belly, a little bulge was starting to form. "Wow...." Matt said amazed as he rubbed his hand on her stomach giving Gabby the chills. "Are you excited?" she asked him, Matt looking at her with his big blue eyes. "I'm more than excited!!! I'm ecstatic!" Matt replied, Gabby kissing him, Matt turning her onto her side wrapping his arms around her. "I love you" he whispered near her ear. "I love you too"

"Kelly? You home?" Sylvie asked as she walked into their apartment carrying Alexa, Kelly coming out from their bedroom without a shirt. "Is someone else in there?!" Sylvie joked around, Kelly giving her a kiss. "Only you!" he said winking, taking Alexa out of her arms. "Hey there baby girl!!" Kelly said as he kissed his daughter, Alexa throwing her little head back. "What's going on with her?" Kelly asked as he placed her on the ground, Alexa toddling away. "She's 17 months now.... Just wait until she's thirteen" Sylvie said setting her purse on the counter, Kelly walking over to the fridge. "Yeah, not looking forward to it" Kelly said opening the fridge, pulling out a water bottle. "Can I trust you with something?" Sylvie suddenly asked, Kelly looking at her and placing the water bottle on the counter. "Yeah of course! What'd you think that ring was for?" Kelly replied, Sylvie laughing. "Gabby's pregnant..." "NO WAY!!!" "Yeah she figured it out three days ago" "How come you didnt tell me then?!" Kelly asked taking a sip, Sylvie shrugging. "I don't know. It was like the last thing on my mind" Sylvie said sitting on the couch, turning on Alexa's playroom monitor. "What else is on your mind?" Kelly asked sitting next to her, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. "Well...." she said placing her head on his chest, taking a deep breath. "I was thinking... Maybe we should start planning for the wedding" Sylvie said making Kelly smile. "Marry me now" Kelly blurted out making Sylvie laugh. "Baby as much as I'd like that, I want to plan and have things done right. This will be one of the most important times in our life!!!" Sylvie said sitting up, looking Kelly in the eyes. Kelly then leaned in and kissed her, Sylvie running her hands through his hair. Alexa then toddled back into the living room and walked up to them, placing her head on Kelly's lap. Kelly pulled back and looked at Alexa and smiled. He then looked at the clock, realizing it was past Alexa's bedtime. "Well little missy, it looks like you got to stay up!" Kelly exclaimed as he picked up Alexa, gritting his teeth. "Ow Sylvie take her!" he said calmly , trying not to scare Alexa. Sylvie quickly stood up and took Alexa out of his arms, Kelly sitting back down on the couch, gripping his side. "I can't wait to get this thing off" he said as Sylvie walked into the kitchen grabbing Alexa's diaper and pajamas. "Well, I'll put her to bed, while you start wedding planning" Sylvie said, Kelly sighing and laughing. "Sylvie, I'm a guy! We don't do that!" Kelly replied. "You're the groom.... So you have to" Sylvie said, Kelly looking at her. "Really?" "Kelly...." "Alright fine..." Kelly said pulling out a pencil and notepad, jotting down ideas.

Gabby looked at Matt who laid next to her, his strong arms still wrapped around her. She looked up at the hospital clock. It was late at night, and she decided to head home. As she sat up, Matts grip suddenly became stronger and his eyes flew open. "Gabby..." he asked as he wearily sat up, rubbing his eyes. "Hey.... Go back to sleep" she whispered kissing him, Matt stretching out his arms. "Can't" he told her, Gabby standing up. "Why?" she asked sitting in a chair, pulling out her phone. "I keep thinking about that collapse. I heard the girl screaming from her room, and before I can get to her...." he started to choke out. "Baby...." Gabby said sitting next to him, pulling him close. "Please tell me she's alive" Matt cried, Gabby nodding her head. "She's alive babe...... She's alive" Gabby said, Matt suddenly pulling back and looking at her stomach. "So, tell me about this" he said placing his hand on her stomach, Gabby smiling. "Well, you know two weeks ago when we..." "Yes...." Matt said interrupting. "Ever since then I've been feeling sick, and then suddenly, the smell of pickles makes me want to vomit" Gabby replied, Matt smiling. "I can't believe I'm gonna be a dad" he said making Gabby smile. "I know. I can't wait" she said kissing him, Matt laying back down as there was a knock on the door. "Come in" Gabby said as she pulled back breathless, the doctor walking in. "What're you guys doing up so late?" the doctor asked, making both Matt and Gabby laugh. "He's not sleeping well, so to by off time we're just hanging around talking" Gabby said, the doctor nodding her head. "Well Mr. Casey. We took some cat scans and x-Rays of your head and it looks like your blood swelling has gone down tremendously! You'll be able to go home in the next two days" she told them, Matt smiling. "Great! When can I get back to work?" he asked, the doctor shrugging. "Since your injury wasn't as bad as the last, I'd say you can go back within 2-3 weeks! Maybe even before" the doctor said leaving the room, Matt looking at Gabby before their lips collided, Gabby laying on top of Matt. "Let's get some sleep" Gabby told him laying her head on Matts chest, him stroking her hair. "I agree" he whispered, Gabby suddenly clutching his sides. "Hey, you okay?" he asked as Gabby shifted, popping her head up and she smiled at him. "I just got the baby flutters" she told him, Matt kissing her, placing his hands on her back. "I'm so glad you're mine. There's nobody Id rather have carry our baby but you" he said, Gabby kissing him, it suddenly growing deeper.
