Ring ring
The annoying buzz of the home phone rang beside my bed. I purposefully slammed my hand over the receiver before bringing it to my ear.
" Speak."
" I will shank you and swallow your soul." My editor's voice came from the other line. She was always grouchy during that time of the month....the deadline was coming near and I haven't turned in the new chapter.
" I've called you 10 times! But anyways, there's a press conference coming up about the book." She began to calm down andtell me about my schedule.
"So? It's not like I need to be there."
" Yeah, but your brother's coming and he wants to see you. Plus, you owe me food."
" Heh, then I'm for sure not going." I hung up on her, cutting off her rants about my poor communication skills.
I couldn't sleep again after, even though I've only gotten 4 hours of sleep and a few short naps here and there. But coffee was always there to pick me up from fatigue.
In the end, I decided to buy food and cheap coffee so I could get back to writing. I walked back from the convenience store with my bag of groceries in hand. Spring was over but it felt like it never began. In the city, it was gloomier than it was back home, no one else seemed to notice it besides me so I shrugged it off as just a misconception.
Besides, it seemed gloomy everywhere to me.
