Have you ever wondered what God is really like. The holy bible tells us many beautiful things about him. God wants us to know what he is like. Because of this he showed men. The prophets. What he does for people and how he feels about them.

He told the prophets to write this in books so that all people everywhere could learn to know him. Here are some word pictures about the true God. When the prophets wrote these. They wrote in Hebrew.

But people who know several languages have translated them because God wanted all of us to know him. He cares about each person in Africa, Asia, Europe, South America, the Middle East, Australia, North America, and Central America.

He cares about each person on every island in the oceans and the seas. He wants all people everywhere to read his holy bible. Here are word pictures that a group of people translated into modern English. As you read ask God to help you to really know him. He will do this for you.

I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, o lord, make me dwell on safety.  Psalm 4:8

I lie down and sleep. I wake again, because the lord sustains me. Psalm 3:5

I love you. O lord. My strength. The lord is my rock. My fortress and my deliverer. My God is my rock. In whom i take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation. My stronghold. I call to the lord. Who is worthy of praise. And i am saved from my enemies.    Psalm 18:1-3

The heavens declare the glory of God. The skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech. Night after night they display knowledge. There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard. Their voice goes out into all the earth. Their words to the ends of the world. In the heavens he has pitched a tent for the sun. Which is like a bridegroom coming forth from his pavilion. Like a champion rejoicing to run his course. It rises at one end of the heavens and makes its circuit to the other. Nothing is hidden from its heat. The law of the lord is perfect. Reviving the soul. The statutes of the lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple. The precepts of the lord are right. Giving joy to the heart. The commands of the lord are radiant. Giving light to the eyes. The fear of the lord is pure. Enduring forever. The ordinances of the lord are sure and altogether righteous. They are more precious than gold. Than much pure gold. They are sweeter than honey. Than honey from the comb. By them is your servant warned. In keeping them there is great reward.
Psalm 19: 1-11

The lord is my light and my salvation. Whom shall i fear. The lord is the stronghold of life. Of whom shall i ne afraid. Though my father and mother forsake me. The lord will receive me.
Psalm 27: 1, 10

By the word of the lord were the heavens made. Their starry host by the breath of his mouth. For he spoke. And it came to be. He commanded. And it stood firm.   Psalm 33:6, 9

I waited patiently for the lord. He turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit. Out of the mud and mire. He set my feet on a rock. And gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth. A hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear. And put their trust in the lord. Blessed is the man who makes the lord his trust. Who does not look to the proud. To those who turn aside to false gods. Many, o lord my God. Are the womders you have done. The things you planned for us no one can recount to you. Were i to speak and tell of them. They would be too many to declare.  Psalm 40:1-5

Lord. You have been our dwelling place throughout all generations. Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the earth and the world. From everlasting to everlasting you are God.  Psalm 90:1, 2.
