The next morning I woke having had the strangest dreams the night before. I'm so anxious about this new family but also enthralled by my interaction with Harry.

I walk downstairs to see my mom standing by the window sipping coffee.

"What are you watching?"

I walk over to her and she smiles, slightly startled.

"It's the new family," she points to the house across the street.

"They're our neighbors?" I ask in shock.

"Oh, did I forget to tell you? I must've been buzzed. Had a couple of glasses of wine, sorry honey."

She pats my hair as I scoff and shake my head. I notice a tall, brown haired boy loading things out of a truck.

"Is that the son? Cedric?"

I knew he was a boy but I didn't know he would be attractive.

"What? You like what you see?"

She smiles and bumps her hip into mine.

"Mom..." I whine.

She laughs as she walks into the kitchen. I stare a few more minutes, admiring his strength.

"I made cookies, and we're gonna bring them over. Okay?"

"What?" I look at her like she's crazy. "You. My mother. Are going to socialize and give cookies to strangers? You?"

She sticks her tongue out at me.

"Yes. Yes I am. Lily's had an influence on me... I guess you could say."

We both smile at each other and I head up to my room to fix my hair... and maybe apply some makeup. I want to make a good impression. I'm not boy crazy or anything but it wouldn't hurt to get a little attention once in a while. Especially because I've practically been attention deprived my whole life.

"Okay I'm leaving!" I hear my mom yell from downstairs.

I quickly enter the kitchen, grabbing the cookies.

It's not a big deal. Interactions are easy. These voices of reason in my head aren't exactly helping in this situation.

My mom and I walk out the door and head over to his house. The Diggory's. We ring the doorbell. I take a deep breath. A woman answers.

"Hello?"

My mom inhales deeply and starts to speak.

"Hi- Mrs.- hi I- we are your next door neighbors and we brought cookies."

My mother forces a smile and I can see the pain in her eyes.

"We're the Thompson's. I'm Sofia and this is my mom, Lindsay. It's nice to meet you."

My eyes wander as I realize I spoke a full sentence without stuttering.

"Oh, well it's very nice to meet you. We're the Diggory's. Ced, come here," she yells upstairs.

I watch as he runs down the stairs, his hair so flawlessly gorgeous. He seamlessly makes eye contact with me and smiles.

"Hi, I'm Cedric."

He puts his hand out as he continues to look into my eyes and I think he's putting me into a trance.

"Sofia."

I shake his hand with a shy smile on my face. Wow he is sort of perfect.

He greets my mom and steps outside with me.

"Walk with me," he says softly.

Walk? With him? My jaw opens slightly at his words. I laugh awkwardly and follow him.

"So what do you do around here for fun?" He grins.

"Um... well..."

Nothing? His eyes are melting my words.

"We go to the park I guess?" I say timidly.

"Great. Take me there."

I stop as he picks up the pace in front of me. I'm surprised and confused by this strange boy. But yet- it's exhilarating.
