Chapter 1

Screams echoed throughout the entire manor making Teuf jump to his feet "Lyric!" He called out running out of his office and up the stairs with Raser behind him Lyrics screams were blood-curdling and the smell of fear emanating down the hall. Reaching for the doorknob realizing she locked it "damn it!" Teuf cursed out loud "Step away!" Raser said making Teuf move aside as he kicked the door open they rushed to Lyric's bedside she was lying flat on her back with her arms at her sides like she was pinned and then Raser And Teuf noticed the blood seeping through her pajama top "Lyric! Wake up!" Teuf begged grabbing her by the shoulders and shaking her "Raser help me!" He pleaded as her screams became louder the blood began to pour from her chest "What the fuck?" Raser said horrified trying to find a way to help "anything!"Grabbing Lyric's pajama top and ripping it open revealing a "Y" incision on her chest her screams were mixed with sobs as the skin started to separate from muscle "Her necklace! Give it to me" Teuf demanded trying to heal her "Put it on her" he directed his twin brother and as soon as he placed her crescent moon necklace on her, her eyes popped open still screaming she started pleading "No! No! No!" Sobbing mixed with screams "Lyric! You're home! It was a nightmare" Teuf said while sitting her up and pulling her close "What happened?"Raser asked "Shatter he-he had me in a morgue and he did an autopsy on me while I was alive and I felt every bit of it" Lyric's voice was small and hoarse she looked down and saw that she was covered in blood "Don't worry it's healing," Teuf said as he places his hand over her to help the healing process "I'll find a way to kill him once and for all," raser said "not alone you're not," Teuf said "we will end him together," Raser said in a low tone "come on let's go get you cleaned up," Teuf said gently urging her to get up "I don't want to be alone" Lyric began crying as she pulled her pajama top closed "Raser will you go downstairs and wait for us I'm gonna keep her company," Teuf asked "yeah sure take your time," raser said before exiting the room and closing the door. "Come on let's get you cleaned up," Teuf told in a gentle tone as he helped her up making their way to the bathroom he noticed Lyric was shaking "I'll find a way to never sleep again," she said while looking me dead in the face "we will figure this out I promise," Teuf said reassuringly taking his jacket off and placing it on the back of Lyric's vanity chair and rolling his sleeves up "take as long as you need I'll be right here," he said taking a seat conjuring up a book. "Shatter you coward come out and talk to me" Raser demanded. Pacing through the house "Shatter doesn't take orders from raser!" Echoed shatter but was still nowhere to be found. Turning the shower off Lyric stopped for a moment "Do you think we will ever get to a normal life?" She asked Teuf put his book down and looked up "I hope so but it seems this may be our new normal" Teuf said. Wrapping her towel around herself she inspected her chest hoping it was all healed "I'm tired of all of this" she said under her breath opening the shower door, Teuf stood up to help her out of the shower and put her robe over her shoulders "I got you" he said gently helping her to her vanity "thank you I just feel so weak and exhausted I feel awful that you have to baby me" Lyric smiled a weak smile "hey we're family we have each other's backs" Teuf looked at Lyric and paused "I wanna thank you for what you did back there helping raser realize everything was true. How did you find a way if the portal was closed?" Lyric shifted in her chair "I made my own portal I'm not sure what compelled me to" she explained "I also wanna apologize for lying to you I just wanted to keep you safe but you've proven you're braver than you let on and I'm proud of you" Teuf said looking somber "I'm still annoyed with you but I get it" she said turning to her vanity mirror to brush her hair "I'll be downstairs if you need me" Teuf said excusing his self. Lyric looked in the mirror and noticed how exhausted she did look she studied where she was cut in her dream "It was just a dream Lyric you're fine now" She said to herself. after cleaning up the bloody sheets and putting on a nightgown she climbed back into bed saying a silent prayer to herself before falling into a deep sleep. Raser sat in Teuf's office looking through journals and documents hoping to find info on Shatter "You finding everything ok?" Teuf asked walking into the room with two cups of tea "This is impressive there's info on every demon in the underworld" Raser said eyes glued to the journals "It's my job" Teuf said offering Raser a cup of tea "Why do you treat her like family? she's an apprentice nothing more" Raser chimed "She reminds me of Heidi and I am not sure the night I met her it was like her soul was calling me to save it" Teuf explained "Well she isn't Heidi" he growled "I understand that Raser but you can pick your family too" Teuf growled back then Raser stood up and started for the door "you should be careful adopting these minions they might get you killed one day for caring too much" he snapped at Teuf "that's my business!" Teuf yelled.
