I skateboarded in the halls. I opened my locker, holding my skateboard. I walked off, slamming my locker shut. I walked to my locker after class, taking a deep breath. I opened my locker, putting my books in. The boy, Dustin, cleared his throat. "Um..." He started. I looked at them. "Hi, Max. I'm Dustin, and this is-" Dustin started, but the other boy, Lucas, finished the sentence. "Lucas." They both smiled nervously. "Yeah, I know." I replied with a slight smirk. "The stalkers." I added. "Uh, no. Actually..." Dustin stuttered, I rolled my eyes. "We weren't stalking you." Dustin exclaimed. I narrowed my eyes. "No, we were just concerned because, you know, you're new and all." Dustin explained a crappy lie. "Yeah, for your safety." Lucas added. "Mmm-hmm. There are a lot of bullies here." Dustin added, yet again."So many bullies, it's crazy." Lucas looked at Dustin. "Yeah." Dustin replied. "Is that why you're wearing proton packs?" I questioned with a hint of sarcasm. "Well, these don't function. But..." Dustin started. "I do have this handy-dandy little trap here." Dustin pulled out a "trap" box. "And look, it even opens and closes." Dustin explained proudly, I looked at him like he was crazy. "Look, look, look, look." Dustin begged. "Voilá!" Dustin laughed. "It's cool, right?" Dustin asked me. "Yeah.. 'Cool...' So cool.." I mumbled. "No? Okay. But, um..." Dustin started. "So, we were talking last night, and you're new here, so you probably don't have any friends to take trick-or-treating, and you're scared of bullies, so we were thinking that it would be okay if you come with us." Dustin explained to me, which I kinda zoned out, so I have no clue what the hell he's talking about... "It'd be okay?" I questioned them. "Yeah. Our party's a democracy. The majority voted you could come." Dustin explained to me. I was barely processing this information. "Didn't realize if was such an honor to go trick-or-treating with you." I said with sarcasm. "We know where to get the full-sized candy bars." Dustin told me. "We figured you'd want in." Dustin added. "That's presumptuous of you." I told them. "Yeah. Totally. Uh, so, um... you'll come?" Dustin asked me. I rolled my eyes, shutting my locker, walking away. "We're meeting at the Maple Street cul-del-sax at 7:00." Dustin yelled out to me. "That's 7:00 on the dot!" Dustin added. "Presumptuous." Dustin mimicked my word. "That's a good thing, right?" Dustin asked Lucas. Lucas sighed and walked off in the opposite direction. "What is it bad, Lucas?" Dustin asked as they walked off. I skateboard over to Billy's car. I kicked my skateboard up, walking over. "You're late again." Billy told me as he was waiting for me. "Yeah, I had to get catch-up honework." I explained to him, opening the car door. "Jesus. I don't care." He told me. "You're late again, and you're skating home." He added, "Do you hear me?" He asked me. I got in the car, rolling my eyes. What a bastard. Billy got in the car, speeding down the road. "God, this place is such a shithole." He complained. "It's not that bad." I told him. "No?" Billy questioned me, reaching down, rolling down the windows, plugging his nose. Billy inhaled deeply. "Mmm!" He said. "You smell that, Max? That's actually shit." He told me through a plugged nose. "Cow shit." He added, rolling up the windows of his car. "I don't see any cows." I said to him, sarcastically. "Clearly, you haven't met the high-school girls." Billy told me. I do believe him, every girl fucking loves his dumbass. He scoffed. "So what, you like it here now?" He asked me. "No." I answered him. "Then why are you defending it?" He questioned me. "I'm not." I argued. "Sure, sounds like it." He complained. What a damn bitch. I inhaled deeply. "It's just we're stuck here, so..." I started. "Hmm." Billy said. "You're right. We're stuck here." He told me, keeping his eyes on the road. "And whose fault is that?" He asked me, looking over at me. "Yours." I mumbled. "What'd you say?" Billy asked me, glancing back at the road then me. "Nothing." I replied, looking out of the window. "Did you say it's my fault?" He questioned me. "No." I told him, trying not to cry. "You know whose fault it is." He told me. "Say it." He looked at me. I don't respond. "Max..." He'd say tauntingly. "Say it." He ordered. He tried to keep his cool, but he snapped. "Say it!" He yelled at me. He pressed the pedal, speeding. Banging his hands on the steering wheel, listening to his song playing on the radio. I look ahead, seeing those idiot boys on their bikes. "Billy, slow down." I tell him, fear laced in my voice. "Oh, these your new hick friends?" He asked me, still speeding. "No! I don't know them." I told him, scared. "I guess you won't care if I hit 'em, then?" He questioned me sickly. "I get bonus points, I get 'em all in one go?" He asked me, I looked horrified. "No, Billy, stop. It's not funny." I told him. He continued to shake his body with the music, banging his hands on the steering wheel. He revved his car, the boys coming into view. "Billy, cone on, stop it. It's not funny. Stop!" I yell at him. He pressed the pedal even more, we were right on the boys tails. "Billy, stop it!" I turn the wheel, swerving away from hitting them. "Yeah! That was a close one, huh?" He yelled at me, I breathed heavily. Billy laughed maniacally. Goddamn Billy, always so fucked up in the head. I look away from Billy, he was a fucking peice of shit. Billy dropped me off as he left for a party. He probably wouldn't be home tonight. Who cares? I saw the boys, and I waited before jumping out in my Micheal Myers costume. The boys screamed. Lucas sounded like a little girl. I chuckled, taking off my mask. "Holy shit! You should have seen the look on your faces!" I exclaimed. "And you? Who screams like that? You sound like a little girl." I told Lucas. I walked off, still laughing. "Hey, you guys coming or not? Or I heard we should hit up Loch Nora." I asked the boys before stating about the Loch Nora. "That's where the rich people live, right?" I asked, chuckling. Dustin, Lucas, and another boy I haven't seen before followed me first before the other boy followed me.
