"Runaan?"
"Yes love?" Runnan replied from across the kitchen.
"Are you going out?" Ethari noticed that Runaan was in his normal assassin's outfit. Something he usually only ever wore when heading out.
"Yeah, the group is working on a new ancient type of potion Andromeda found the recipe for in the mausoleum ruins," Runaan explained as he wrapped his bow around his chest.
"So we decided to divide and conquer when it came to finding the ingredients."
Ethari was honestly quite relieved he wasn't going out for an assassination in broad daylight.
"Would you mind if I came along?" Ethari asked.
"Not at all, you might know all of these actually," Runaan replied as he pulled out a piece of paper with what Ethari assumed would be the ingredients assigned for Runaan.
"Sun Tears,"
"Blue Roses,"
"Moon-night mushrooms,"
"And Death berries."
Runaan cocked his head at the list.
"Do you have any idea what we're making love?" Runaan glanced at his also confused lover.
"Not at all..."
"Did Andromeda not tell you?"
"I guess she forgot." Runaan shrugged and folded the list back up.
"Still want to come along?" Runaan asked.
"Absolutely, I know where to find all of them," Ethari announced quite proudly.
"Of course you do."
"Wait! What about Rayla?" Runaan frantically asked before they left the house.
"Oh! Rayla's spending the day with Suroh."
Runaan took a relieved sigh.
"Ok."
Ethari laughed at Runaan's sudden father senses.
"Come on, let's go." Ethari dragged Runaan out of the door."We have to wait till tonight for the Death berries and the Sun Tears are around the Midnight Dessert."
"We should get those first before it gets dark." Ethari and Runaan walked side by side through the Moonshadow forest as Ethari analyzed everything properly.Ethari and Runaan walk to the edge of the Midnight dessert in hopes of finding Sun Tears.
"They should be in shady areas."
Runaan nodded as he and Ethari split up to find them quicker. Not very long later Runaan seemed to find some.
"Ethari!"
"Runaan? Did you find them?" Ethari ran over toward his husband.
"Yeah, these right?"
"Perfect."
Ethari started to pick some of the flowers and place them in a basket he brought along.
Runaan couldn't help but let out a little snicker.
"What?" Ethari questioned why he was laughing.
"Sorry darling."
"You look like the children in Silvergroove when they pick for berries." Runaan gave Ethari an oddly specific vision.
"Especially with the basket."
Ethari rolled his eyes with a smile on his face as he slowly stood up.
"At least I was prepared to carry things." Ethari mocked.
"Come on Darling." Ethari groaned.
"Let's go find our next two."
Runaan nodded as he let out his last giggle."The Moon-night mushrooms along with the Blue Roses should just be somewhere around here," Runaan mentioned as they walked back to the Moonshadow forest.
"Yeah, their usually placed all around Xadia."
"Shouldn't be too hard to find."
Runaan heard a rustling in the trees as Ethari made his last remark.
Instinctively Runaan lined up his arrow toward the shaky branches and shot without hesitation.
"Runaan!?" Ethari quickly turned around once he heard an arrowhead hit something close behind.
"Are you alright?" Ethari approached even closer toward Runaan.
"Something's here with us," Runaan whispered.
Runaan pulled out another arrow and carefully listened to every sound of the nature.
Both elves heard the branches behind Ethari move around. Ethari immediately ducked as Runaan shot another arrow.
Another failed shot.
Runaan and Ethari stood silent. Listening to any new sudden movements.
After a bit of silence, another sound came whooshing from the heavy leaves.
Runaan grabbed the flying projectile as he flew right passed his eyes.
"Aww dang it!"
Runaan and Ethari immediately recognized the female voice.
Rayla and the shy skywing elf plopped out from the tree leaves and landed on the ground with a thud.
"Ow," Rayla complained as her chin hit the hard soil.
"Rayla?" Runaan glared at the two.
"Hi, Runaan...Ethari..."
"What are you doing here Rayla?" Ethari approached the girl and the boy and helped them stand back up.
"I was practicing..." Rayla smiled awkwardly.
"And what were you practicing?"
"...sneak attacks..."
Ethari sighed.
"Where did you even get the arrows?"
"I snuck into your workshop.."
"...ok." Ethari gave up.
"Rayla, you could've gotten hurt."
"Or you could've hurt me or Ethari." Runaan scolded the small kid.
"Sorry..." Rayla apologized.
"It's fine, but if you want to practice, just ask me." Runaan placed the arrow into his quiver.
"Ok." Rayla's mood shifted into a more joyful attitude.
"Does Suroh's parents know he's here?" Ethari asked.
"Uhh...they do-"
"SUROH!"
Ethari and Runaan gave both kids a look of disbelief.
"-...not know..."
"Yup, thanks..." Runaan sighed as he pinched the bridge of his nose.
"Over here!" Runaan shouted.
Suroh's parents eventually ran through and popped out of the bushes.
"Oh Suroh," they both sighed in relief.
"What are you doing out here!?" His parents asked as they shook him by the shoulders.
"I..."
"It's my fault," Rayla admitted.
"I brought Suroh out here to hang out."
"I'm sorry.."
"Darling if you and Suroh are going to go out then at least tell us beforehand."
"Yes ma'am, it won't happen again." Rayla apologized once more.
"Let's go Suroh."
Suroh gave Rayla a wave as he followed his parents into the forest.
Leaving Rayla alone with her annoyed family.
"Good job Rayla." Ethari praised.
"Wait what...?" Rayla was expecting a lot more scolding and a lot less praising.
"Don't get me wrong your still grounded, but good job for actually admitting your mistake."
"I think Suroh might still be in a bit of trouble but less than what he would've probably gotten if you hadn't said anything." Ethari smiled at Rayla.
"To be fair he wouldn't be in any trouble if you didn't run off." Runaan interrupted.
"But I agree, well done." Runaan smiled.
"Oh yeah, while I was listening to you guys back at home I heard that you needed so Blue Roses and Moon-night mushrooms." Rayla reached into her bag and gave them a handful of each.
"I ended up finding some as I was following."
Ethari sighed in relief.
"This saved us a lot of time Rayla, thanks," Ethari said as he took both handfuls and put them into his basket.
"The Death berries though-"
"You wouldn't have been able to find them anyway, at least not properly." Runaan interrupted.
"Here, I think I saw a patch of bushes somewhere around here maybe." Runaan led the two toward what he saw.
"Look, these are both Moonberries and Death berries." Runaan knelled down next to Rayla.
"But they look the same..." Rayla glanced at Runaan in confusion.
"Exactly, just wait." Runaan looked up to perfectly see the sun set and disappear into the horizon.
Rayla's eyes widened as a blue sheen shone on her face
"Woah..."
"The ones that glow are moonberries. Ones that don't are death berries."
Ethari knelled next to the two to pick both.
"Wait why are you picking both?" Rayla asked, she remembered all the ingredients that they mentioned. Moonberries weren't one.
"Moonberries are quite nutritious and can be made into juices," Ethari replied happily as he made sure to properly separate both.
"Be very careful when it comes to Death and Moonberries." Runaan straightened his back.
"Why?"
"A single Death berry results in certain death." Runaan warned her.
"Done, let's go." Ethari jumped up as he finished his organization.Once the three made it home, Rayla immediately went to her room.
Yawning while doing so.
"Do you need to get that to Andromeda today?" Ethari asked Runaan.
"I'll just give them to her tomorrow," Runaan said as he set his bow and took off the many layers he wore.
"Ow." Runaan felt a sharp sting on his arm when his bracer brushed against the area.
"Runaan?"
"You alright?" Ethari headed over to see the problem.
"Yeah, I think, it's just a scrap." Runaan offered the approaching elf his arm.
"Oh, Sleeping hollies,"
"Your arm must have brushed the thorns on their stem."
"Hm?" Runaan couldn't focus very well as his vision started to fade.
"If a plant gets inside your body in any way, yours being through the sharp thorns, you'll end up falling asleep."
"Thorn effects take a long while before starting to kick in unlike eating the actual berry."
"Ok, do I do anything?" Runaan asked.
"No, just simple sleep."
Runaan yawned.
"Ok.." Runaan fell over onto Ethari's chest.
"Runaan?"
When no answer was given. Ethari assumed that the effects had already occurred.
He carried the elf into their shared room and set him on the bed.
Ethari slept right beside him as he hugged him tightly."Good Night Runaan."
