A stone pinged off my window. "The fuck..." I dragged myself out of bed, smoothing down my ruffled hair. I threw on a hoodie and pulled the curtains. I saw my friend, Rae, standing under my window. He had a backpack slung over his shoulders. He eyes twinkled mischievously. "One sec!" I quietly called. I changed into warmer clothes and snuck downstairs.
I quietly opened the door. "Hey!" He said, pulling me into a hug. "Come on" Rae took my hand, we ran away from the house. "Where are we going?" I laughed. "You'll see!" We walked up the hill a while away from my house. "Here we are!" Rae gestured to a bench overlooking the valley and river below. The moon cast a soft light over the setting, stars freckled across the sky. He dragged me over to the bench. We sat down together, Rae pulling a box of matches, smore ingredients, and blankets.
He lit the small fire that was in a fire pit in front of us. "I was bored, and I really needed to get out of the house" Rae's pointed ears flushed red. "I wasn't really asleep anyways, and this is cute" I pulled a blanket over my shoulders, gazing up at the stars. Gods I really needed to talk to Rae about feelings. What if I try make it obvious? I shuffled closer to Rae, who was fixated on the stars above.
I leaned my head on his shoulder, resting my pinky finger on top of his. I felt him stiffen before relaxing into the touch. His pinky shifted, linking with mine. I felt my ears warm. I was definitely gay panicking. "Cas?" Rae said, not taking his eyes of the stars. "Yeah?" "I- I care a lot about you" "I care about you too" We sat in silence for a moment, the only sound coming from the cracking campfire in front of us.
"I love you" "I love you" We said at the same time. He turned his gaze to me, his eyes were...beautiful. "Can I kiss you?" Rae blurted, his face flushed pink. "Yes, please do" He cupped my cheek, leaning in. Our lips touched, his pressed against mine. It wasn't the perfect kiss, seen as though neither of us had ever done it before, but it felt amazing. We pulled apart, staring into each others eyes. A small laugh escaped my lips. "We're so stupid" A warm smile spread across his perfect face.
I snuggled closer to him. "Be my boyfriend?" I asked quietly. "Yeah, I'd like that a lot" We stayed together on the bench until the moon began to set. Rae walked me home, our fingers linked. We stopped outside my door. "Kiss?" I asked. He lightly kissed my lips. "I'll see you later. '' He whispered. He dashed away from the house in the direction of his own home.
I snuck back inside, narrowly avoiding one of my parents who was getting ready for work. I got back into my room without being seen. I changed and flopped onto my bed. "Wow" I breathed. He was my boyfriend. I had a boyfriend. I pulled the sheets up, relishing the warmth of my bed. Everything was good.
