The party was a hit.

You finally have got to see Eddie, and his husband Frank. The night was joyous, you were enjoying the little party that was set up even though you stayed in Barnaby's vest the whose time.

But..

"Someone call an ambulance!"

"Poppy!? Poppy! Can you hear me?"

The woman, who you've seen earlier this morning in the kitchen.

She fell unconscious, for some unknown reason.

...

You were still in Barnaby's vest as you both arrived in the hospital.

It was cold. The atmosphere.. it was suffocating. Everything was white, too bright.

You wished you could help, although.. everything was just too sudden.

All too sudden.

You looked up at Barnaby, you've never seen him so worried in your life, for once his expression was... Gloomy.

Julie followed you both inside as you all waited.. Frank and Eddie stayed home and asked for her to give them a call to when poppy will be up.

«...»

«barnaby..?»

"Yeah, doll?"

«will she be alright...?»

You looked up with him, obvious worry etched on your expression.

"..."

"Yeah."

"She's gonna be alright."

You... Didn't believe that, in one bit.

Wally looked so.. upset.

He was so desperate to wake the woman— Poppy. So desperate to wake her up while waiting for the ambulance to arrive.

You didn't like seeing him sad.. not one bit.

Why?

Why was this happening...?

...

A familiar gust of wind can be felt as you peeked your head out of Barnaby's vest.

«... soulkeeper.»

"Reader."

You both remained in silence, she sat right beside Barnaby yet he didn't seem to notice. Ofcourse, she wore her usual attire, including the mask ofcourse.

«...»

«are you gonna take her too? Just like what you did to the little girl?» you mumbled, a hint of worry in your voice as you looked at her.

"It depends if her name appear in my list." She says, yet her voice became... Soft.

«...»

«will she be alright..?»

You looked at her, desperate.

"..."

"I can't promise you that she will." She says simply.

There was a long pause, the silence was.. heavy.

"But I'll try my best.. to let her keep living."

You perked up at that.

"You'll do that..?"

"It's not a promise. I don't like promises. But I did say I'll try, so I'm still unsure if I can."

There was still hope.

You don't know the woman that much but.. Wally looked so.. heartbroken.

...

For wally.

"Alright.." you nod, a glimmer of hope can be felt upon hearing her words.
