I had been waiting down the stairway for a while now. This place looked like an emergency escape room. There were cars, all black, guns, knives, ropes, handcuffs, and many other weapons I did not know of. I looked around. "Isabelle?" I heard a familiar voice as I turned around. "You okay?"
"Yeah. I'm fine. Luckily." I said and smiled as I saw Danielle. She was injured, badly. She had a bandaid wrapped around her left arm with a blood stain, looked like someone punched her in the eye, a small scar on the forehead above her brows, and a slightly injured lip. As she came closer, I noticed that she wasn't walking correctly. I looked down to see her leg and saw that her black jeans were torn and her knee was also band-aided with blood stains. "God, what happened to you?"
"Nothing, I'm fine, don't worry about it. Le-"
I cut her off.
"You don't look so fine." My arms crossed around my chest.
"I'll bear it. When you are in the mafia, these wounds are too small to hurt. Trust me, these are nothing. I've seen worse. Much, much worse."
"But yo-"
"No buts. Let's just get you out of here."
She cut me off as I let out a sigh.
"Wait, but where are we going?"
"To Christian's safe house."
"And...who is Christian?"
Danielle's eyes widened and wore a shocked expression. I asked her if I had said something wrong. She opened her mouth to reply but didn't say anything for a minute or so.
"You live in The Devil's house but don't know his name?"
My eyes widened. Shit. "W-well, I mean, it is not like he is known by his name. How the hell was I supposed to know?"
She chuckled but her expression suddenly changed as we heard a huge bang. She became alert. I looked over my shoulder and turned back to Danielle. "Let's go. Someone might have broken into the passage, it's no longer safe. We must leave at once." She took a hold of arm and led us toward a black Mercedes-Benz S-Class. As we sat into the car I heard people screaming. The noises were faint so I didn't know what they were saying. We drove as they came closer to us.

We had been driving for a while now. I think two hours or so. I was staring out the window the entire time, watching the tree, trees, and...trees! The only thing on either side of the road were trees! God this was annoying. "How much longerrrr?"
"Isabelle for the 10th fucking time, the safe house is far from the mansion and we'll reach there after at least 4 more hours," Danielle replied, her eyes still fixed on the road.
"You're kidding."
"I'm not, but we will take a halt soon, promise."
I threw my head back, I was so fricking bored with nothing but trees to look at when I looked out the window.Even though back at the mansion I did nothing, it was as boring and annoying as this is. I swear to god! As I looked out the window, at the bizarre amount of trees, a sign board caught my eye. It said Welcome to Cortina d'Ampezzo. "Where are we? That sign board, I've never heard of this town."
"Cortina d'Ampezzo. It's not very popular, hence you haven't heard of it." Danielle replied with a hint of a British accent, but mostly an Italian one.
"Are you..." I took a small pause, "British?"
"Yeah, kinda. My mom was British. My dad though was Italian."
"Ohhh. My mom was Korean and dad American."
"I know."
Not weird at all...
"Are we taking a halt here?" I said, trying to change the topic
"Yes."
