I feel like someone hit my head with a gong, multiple times, repeatedly. Over and over again. I also feel cold and for some reason, I can't seem to open my eyes. I force my eyes open only to see a bar, what the actual fuck?
I feel so...naked. Wait, I am naked!I let out a loud scream in which Nick wakes up to in a sudden jolt. Swiftly, both of us cover our cleavage with our hands and I browse the place for my clothes.
"You can get dressed inside." He motions his head towards the door.
"Um, you need to turn around so I could grab my clothes."
"You'll see my butt!"
"If you don't, you'll see my boobs and my crotch, so yeah I'll sacrifice seeing your butt!"
Nick turns around, I grabbed my clothes withal my suitcase and head inside.
"I can't believe I slept with a kid!" I say loudly and then I notice his car keys. Swiftly, I went and grabbed them and wrote a note:
'Borrowed your car, will give you a call for you to retrieve it.
Sophie.'
Now, where should I place it? I looked around for an ideal place, which was the desk in this case.
"Sophie, are you finished?"
"Um, yeah, just a minute!"
Quickly, I get dressed then grabbed my suitcase and ran like never before to the backdoor. I notice the truck parked so I naturally assumed it was his, I unlock the door, put sunglasses on, start the engine, ignored Nick's shouts and drove to Best Inn. Apart from that shitty name, it was the only inn in Greenville.
"I need a room."
This is where I spent my prom night, my date was such a gentleman that he decided to cut to the chase. I didn't even make it to my first dance, terrific! Let's take a trip down slutty lane now! Shall we? I think not.
"I need you I.D please."
I remember how much I admired my dress; it was a short sleeveless purple dress. It makes me sad that I didn't get to show it off to anybody, Molly saw it though. At least she remembered my prom night!
"Room 35."
I couldn't help but to note how bored that man was, not only his tone sounded so disinterested and done with this town, he also looked disgusted from everything around him.Honestly, who could blame him? I look for room 35, and enter it. I took a quick cold shower, then lay on the bed thinking about what happened. I got in, had a few drinks...and obviously banged him. Everything from last night seemed so fuzzy and my head is still hurting me so I grab my purse, and drive to the nearest drug store.
"Sophie?"
I stare at a woman's face; unaware of who she is or what kind of connection I have with her. She did seem oddly familiar though.
"It's me, Amy!"
"Right! Amy um...Amy..." I still have no clue who you are lady!
"Amy Winston! I sat behind you in biology!"
"Amy Winston, yeah! the girl who sat behind me, of course!" Is she fucking kidding me!
"I knew you would remember me!"
"Honestly, I surprised myself."
Before she could interrogate me about my whereabouts since I've last been here so she could sell it for Greenville Times or something, I told her I was in a hurry and quickly grabbed some Advil and jogged to the truck. I take a pill and swallow it then drive to the nearest diner; my tummy was growling like a hungry beast.
"What can I get you?"
"I'll have Nutella pancakes with chocolate milkshake."
The waiter takes away the menu and I stare at a family eating breakfast together. The mum was helping her son cut the waffles and the father was feeding the baby, how lovely! You can sense both of the parent's spirits being ripped off from the moment she popped out that little monster. In the booth behind them was a couple of girls, in high school I guess, teen idles. Who would've thought in five years I'd be a young adult idle? Ha! Not me. This town sickens me and the people make me feel so disgusted! Everyone here is wearing a smile as if their lives are not boring. If a stranger would see them he'd think they wake up to Frank Sinatra personally in the morning, and sleep to the music of Elvis Presley, him performing in the flesh and blood. I don't get it! I take off my glasses and suddenly all the diner went from chaotic sounds of children screaming to whispers. As if Marilyn Monroe, personally, came into the dinner and sang happy birthday to JFK all over again.
I give them the evil eye which gives them a hint and they all turn away and return to their meals.
"Here you go!" She places a plate of yummy looking pancakes in front of me, and I just want to dig in, then order more.
"Thank you."
"God's heavens! It is you!" The waitress gasped.
"I'm not Jesus, I can't cure whatever you have." I growled as I took my fork and began to eat big bites of the best damn pancakes I have ever tasted!
"Don't you sass with me, Sophie!"
The waitress sits down in front of me, and I choose to ignore her; maybe she'll go away.
"Does your mother know you're here?"
"No."
"Well, she told me all about you! From NYU to Vogue!" She explained as I still ignored her.
"Oh, she'll be so happy to see you!"
Still ignoring...
"Oh! I'll call her right away!" She bubbled and I have had enough! Before she could leave, I grasped her arm and looked her straight in the eyes and hissed: "Look lady! I don't know who you are and I don't care if you're Molly's best friend! Leave me the fuck alone and let me enjoy my fucking pancake with out you summing the evil spirit that is my mum!"
The waitress eyes were filled of fear and disappointment, immediately, she pulled her hand out of my grasp and I continued my breakfast peacefully.
I could still hear the low voices talking about my legend, it really did get on my nerve. But I had more important issues I have to deal with; Molly and my one night stand.
