So I just had to write this. You may or may not think it's that interesting but I got this idea from watching a show I love. This is basically using a similar joke from the episode. I thought that it might be fun to try out with YuRise.

(Because I can; let's say it takes place in my Chase The Truth canon. Post-epilogue, so during summer break.)

Begin!

~Normal POV

Rise was delighted to have Nanako over today. At first it had been just to hang out, but soon Nanako got curious and asked to see how tofu was made. Now the two were making tofu together. Nanako was even allowed to keep the share she made to take home with her. ("Dad and big bro will love it!") Originally, Nanako had been nervous about coming over. She hadn't gotten a chance to spend time alone with any of her cousin's friends before. But Rise's bubbly and friendly nature made those nerves go away fast. She was happy to be doing this. She knew her big bro loved Rise a lot, so it was only right that she spend time getting closer to her future cousin-in-law.

Rise would have preferred hanging out with Yu, or one of their friends, but that plan got dashed quickly. Yu had offered to spend a chunk of the day running errands for Dojima. Yukiko had to work at the inn; with so many visitors around for summer. Yosuke and Teddie were both working, and Chie had taken up an offer to help them out. And Kanji and Naoto had gone to Okina for a date. So when the idol saw that little Nanako was also lacking a friend to play with, she just had to invite her over.

"How's this, Rise-chan?"

Rise looked down at her work. "Yeah, that looks good. Here, give it to me and I'll finish it off." Nanako handed her the tofu. While Rise was finishing it, the young girl went to wash her hands.

Before they could continue their conversation, Rise felt her phone start buzzing in her pocket. "Oh- Nanako-chan, could you answer my phone for me? My hands are still messy."

Nanako grabbed the phone and looked at the screen. "It's big bro!" She answered it eagerly. "Hi, big bro!"

"Nanako? Why are you on Rise's phone?" Yu asked in response.

"I'm at her house. She's showing me how to make tofu!"

"Oh, well could you put her on, please?"

Nanako held the phone away from her face and looked up at Rise. "He says he wants to talk to you."

Rise smiled. "I'm a little busy here. Just ask him to tell you instead and you can tell me."

Nanako turned back to the phone. "She's busy, but she said you can tell me and I'll tell her."

"Uh... alright," Yu replied, "Well, I finished my errands, and I want to ask her if she wants to take a walk later tonight."

"Where are you gonna go?"

For some reason, Yu sounded somewhat uncomfortable now. "Oh, ya know... around..."

By this point, Rise had figured out what he was intending to ask. She could hear his end too. It might have been a little cruel, but she was curious to see how he'd handle this awkwardness, so she kept listening.

"You're gonna walk around in circles?" Nanako asked, confusedly.

Yu sighed exasperatedly, "No! We're gonna go up to the hill."

Nanako turned to Rise again. "He wants to know if you wanna walk up to the hill tonight."

Rise turned a little pink. She knew what that meant, but it was... private. She'd love to just say yes right away, but she also wanted to see how this played out first. She can always text him later.

"Hmm... That sounds fun..." Rise said, slyly, "Ask him why he wants to."

"Why do you wanna go up to the hill?" Nanako asked. (The look on her face made Rise hold back giggling.)

"To... see the view." Yu answered, vaguely.

"But you can't see the view at night."

Rise continued to hold in her laughter. She'd apologize to poor, confused Nanako later, but she was really loving this. She could just imagine how Yu's face must look right now. He was probably so embarrassed.

"Oh, for the love of- You shouldn't be doing this!" They heard Yu say loudly, "Can I please speak to Rise?"

"He really wants to talk to you."

Rise grinned mischievously. "You're doing fine! Ask him again why he wants to go."

"Big bro, why do you wanna go to the hill?" After a moment, Nanako turned back to Rise. "He said 'nevermind,' and hung up."

Rise giggled. "Ok, I'll talk to him later. You did great though! Now come help me put this tofu away."

Nanako set aside the phone and went to help. But she was still confused by this whole thing. And Rise evaded her attempts to get an explanation for it. Teenagers were always so weird. She hoped that when she became one, she wouldn't be that weird.

~...

Yu hung up his phone with a frustrated sigh. He didn't think asking his girlfriend for a date night would be that freaking difficult. Rise must have put Nanako up to it just to mess with him!

"What's the matter?"

Yu turned to his uncle and said, "Nanako is over at Rise's. I couldn't talk to her at all... You should tell your daughter not to get involved in teenagers' conversations."

Dojima made an amused sound. "I'll try, but I might not have time."

"What do you mean?"

"I'll be too busy explaining to her why you and Kujikawa wanna go to the hill at night."

Yu gulped. As if he wasn't embarrassed enough, he totally forgot that Dojima was listening the whole time. His uncle... who was also a police detective.

"Ah... um-"

"If you two get caught up there, I'm not bailing you out," Dojima added, bluntly.

"Y-Yes, uncle..."

He was so gonna get back at Rise for this.

~The End!

Ok so this is kinda the plan from here on. I hope to make more of these kinds of short stories that just take place in my universe. Either for Chase The Truth, or Life Will Change. Of course they'll always have my canon ships involved in some way, even if they're not the main focus. I have ideas and stuff, but some of them are hard to get down properly. But I really want to write more, even if they're just little one-shots. I know those don't get as many views, but any view is always appreciated, even if it's not a lot.

Anyway, thank you for reading! :)
