Imlie's Pov
We arrived at the house, and I was given a warm welcome by Mrs Aparna and the rest of the family. They accepted me as their daughter, and I was happy, I got two loving families and three mothers (Meethi, Aparna, and Narmada).
I looked up to see the man I once loved, my first love, glaring at me and Aryan. I shrugged, I was used to it by now. He turned to walk away, and I tried to fight the tears threatening to spill out of my eyes when I heard that irritating voice as she descended down the stairs.
'Aditya, don't leave yet.' I need your help in choosing our wedding pictures. She said, holding his arm and putting her head on his shoulder.
'I'm not interested,' he responded and freed himself from her grip, he walks away.
We immediately got to work, and after looking at over a thousand pictures, Malini finally picked a few. I thought we were going to spend the whole day here, we were rounding up when Malini invited us for dinner.
'Excuse me, Mr Rathore, we are going to have dinner soon. Do you care to join us?' She asked while looking at me.
'No,' I started to blurt out, but Aryan cut in immediately, and he agreed. I looked at him angrily, I did not want to stay in this house for another second, but Aryan was all about business and money. She paid us and we couldn't leave till the time was up.
We joined them at the dining table, and Malini started dishing out the food. Aditya looked up at me and spoke. 'This is my favourite dish, and Malini made it with lots of love. I hope you enjoy it.'
I knew he wanted to get a reaction from me, but I'm not going to give him what he wants. I had made a promise to myself, never to cry over spilt milk.
After dinner, we got up to finalize the entire work, and I went into the sitting room to pack up the equipment when Aditya entered the room. I quickly packed up and was about to leave when he stopped me.
'It's surprising, imlie, how you don't want to be in the same room with me anymore.' He scoffed while looking around the room.
'I do not want to be in the same room with you because I don't want you and your wife accusing me of things I didn't do.'
'What did I accuse you of, imlie? He inquired, coming closer and grabbing me by the arms. 'You proved everything to be true'
'Get your hands off me. You've lost every right to touch me,' I snarled at him.
He let me go, but not without a sarcastic comment. 'I don't see your boyfriend anywhere. It's strange.'
'How many times do I have to tell you he is not my boyfriend!' I wanted to smack Aditya so hard across the face, but I kept my cool.
'Explain why I found you guys together in the hotel room on our one-year anniversary. Why does he always stand up for you? You claim he is just your boss, but it is obvious that there is something more.'
'It's too late to be asking me all those questions right now.'
'Imile,' he chuckled and looked at me. 'You both were dancing happily during my haldi ceremony. You don't even seem to be in pain after losing me.'
That was it. He pushed my button with the last thing he said, and I raised my hand and smacked him hard across the face.
He looked at me, shocked, and his lips twisted into a sick smile. 'The truth hurts, doesn't it?'
'You are such a shallow-minded person. I wonder how you became the best journalist in Delhi when you can't see the truth in front of you.' I shrieked.
'You suddenly made up whatever narrative you wanted to without wanting to hear my side of the story. You were the one who announced you wanted to marry Malini. You trusted your best friend over your wife.'
'She accused me of trying to kill her, and my father is in jail because of a crime he didn't commit. When I left the house, did you come after me? Your ego got the better hold of you. You knew I didn't have anyone in the city yet you let me go. I was homeless for days, and when the only person who came to my aid and helped me pick up the broken pieces of my life, you start calling me names'
'Focus on your married life, and lastly, don't expect me to wipe your tears or cry over you. I'm done doing that.' I stated.
'Is it because he is richer than me, imlie? Is that why you chose him over me? You moved on so quickly, and you are even staying at his house.'
'Why are you such a bitter person? Is it because he is doing all the things you and your family couldn't do for me.'
'Imlie!'
'Aditya! You have lost every right to question anything I do, and I only came here to work at the request of your lovely wife. So, if you would excuse me, please let me do my work and move out of my way.'
I turned to walk away when I held my arm, 'Why did you send me the divorce papers?'
'I told you a million times, I didn't send you the divorce papers, so stop accusing me of doing that.''If you didn't, then who sent the divorce papers?'
'I'm the one who sent the divorce papers,' I heard Malini confess as she descended down the flight of stairs. I looked at her with shock and back to Aditya, who was trembling. I could see him clenching his fists.
She walked towards Aditya. 'I sent the divorce papers, but you both signed it. You didn't sign it at Gun Point.' She stated calmly.
I chuckled, and I clapped. 'Wow, Aditya, you two are perfect for each other. I wish you a happy married life.'
I picked up my bag, walking towards the front door when I ran into Malini's mum and she shoved me aside. She looked at me with disgust as usual and turned to her daughter.
'Malini baby, why are you crying? Did that servant do anything to you?'
'Mum, I told Aditya I was the one who sent the divorce papers.'
'Why did you do that, baby? What if he finds out we lied about Imlie and Aryan in a relationship?'
'It doesn't matter, mum. I'm Aditya's legal wife now, and I just need to think of a plan to get rid of Imile soon. For some reason, I feel Aryan won't let Imlie and Aditya come together. I can use that to my advantage and eliminate her. So that Aditya and his family can forget her forever.'
'I suggest we get Aryan Singh Rathore on our side, and she would be left all alone.'
'You are right, mum. Aryan seems to be her biggest strength right now, and if I can't get him to be on our side. I'd take him out of the way. Imile is one lucky girl, but I'm going to snatch her lucky charm soon.'
