Brantley's pov

"I don't think I'm going to press charges." she says, oddly. I stare at her shocked. "baby, ya need to. He had a gun to your head. He almost shot you." I reply, worried. "maybe if I talk to him-" she starts. "no way, I'm not letting him near you again." I say, hugging her.

*a couple weeks later*

Jason's pov

I still can't hear. It's only making this whole situation worse because Noone can actually talk to me they use cards. Someone holds one up. "you have a visitor." I stand up. I hope like hell it's Miranda so I can get a chance to explain but it's just my lawyer. I don't really care what he has to say. All I care about is talking to her. "when will this hearing thing go away?" I ask. He holds up a sign saying, could be permanent. It can't be! Ya can't survive in prison deaf! I lean back in the chair, staring up at the ceiling. I let one girl ruin my whole life. As soon as I escape, I'm going to explain everything to her. If she says no, I'll get my revenge. I don't care about anything except getting my hearing back and her. Justin is at my cell door. I didn't see that coming. He tries to say something but of course I can't hear the moron. "can't hear ya! Blew put my hearing when I almost shot myself." I grumble tossing my hat in the air, bored out of my frickin' mind. He rolls his eyes and taps on his phone then holds it out to me. It says, she isn't pressing charges. You're free to go. I sit up surprised. "you're kidding?!" I gasp. He shakes his head and opens the door. I get up because there is no way I'm wasting anytime. She might change her mind. He hands me a sheet of paper. Oh crap! It's a restraining order! "now how am I going to explain everything to her?" I gripe. Justin shrugs and walks ahead of me. They give me my wallet, phone, and keys back. I just go home to think. "why did she not press charges? Aha! That proves she still loves me!" I shout. I sit on the couch, wondering how I'm going to pull this off when the front door opens and she's standing right there! I move back. "I don't want to go back to jail!" I say. She says something but of course I can't hear her. I sigh and point to my ears. She pulls out her phone.

M: that was Brantley's doing. It's up to me to come see you.
J: why didn't you press charges?

M:I couldn't see you rot in prison.

J:what is gonna happen between us?

I look at her. She doesn't respond. She just shakes her head.

M: there is no us. Not anymore.

I'm too late to explain. She doesn't want me to.

J:you aren't afraid of me, are you?

M: a little. I mean ya put a gun to my head! What do you expect!?

J: I never would've pulled the trigger.

M: how could I have known! For all I knew you had gone crazy and was gonna kill anybody to get what you wanted.

I throw my phone down. Enough of this stupid texting shit. "I never would've shot you! The gun was empty! There were no bullets!" I yell. She still doesn't do anything. She just waves and leaves.

Miranda's pov

I can't believe him! I walk back to my truck and drive to Brantley's place. "how'd it go?" He asks. "he's really frustrated about the no hearing thing." I mutter. I sit beside him on the couch. "He also said it was an empty gun. No bullets." He hugs me tight. "I don't believe him. Next time you go to talk to him, I want to be there. I still think you should press charges on him." He says. I shake my head. "I can't." I whisper. "why not!?" He asks. "I just can't! Please don't ask me again!" I shout. "baby, please don't get mad. I'm only thinking of what's best for you!" He says. I cry in his arms. "it's gonna be okay." He soothes.

I've got to be able to hear again. This is not working. I go back to the doctor's but they all don't want to have a thing to do with me! One doctor thank goodness walks me back. He gives me a pamphlet talking about a therapy I can try. I start going to that and a few days later I can hear again. I want to tell her but I can't go near her. I have to wait til she comes to me. I hear the doorbell. Makes me glad to be able to say that. "come on in!" I call, walking out of the kitchen. "how can you hear?" it's my parole officer. Damn I was hoping it was her. "got it fixed." I say, "what's up?" "I was told you were in contact with the girl you were supposed to stay away from." He says. "hey, look buddy. She came to me! I told her to leave but she wanted to talk. I stayed far away from her!" I gripe, setting my beer can down. "and if I talk to her, I'll get the same story?" He asks. I nod. "if she tells you the truth." I reply. He nods and waves. "see ya next month." He says. "yeah whatever." I grumble, sitting down. He leaves and I turn on the TV, listening to good ol country music. "aw been awhile since I heard this. Then I hear her voice. At first I think it's the TV but it's some Blake shelton song. I look to the door where she smiles. "oh no! You stay away from me girly. You're gonna get me in trouble. My parole officer came by today. You said there's no us so stay away from me!" I shout. She pouts and I look away, knowing that gets me everytime. I cross my arms and close my eyes. Don't give in to her! "okay! What do ya want!?" I grumble. She instantly smiles. "I want to hear your side. I hate going into things blind." she says. I'm a little confused. "my side? There ain't much to tell. I went a little crazy for a second but it's all fine now." I say, glancing at her nervously. "because of me." she cries. "oh no now don't you cry. I send ya home cryin', they'll be investigatin' it for sure." I gripe, irritated, "sometimes I just think you're tryin' to get me in trouble." she rolls her eyes. "If I wanted to get you in trouble, I would've pressed charged on you!" she yells, suddenly angry. "yeah, so why didn't you?" I ask, staring her down. She sits back on the couch again. "I already told ya why." she says. "yeah, well somethin' tells me that ain't the truth." I say. She sighs. "fine, think what ya want but it's the truth." she says turning away. I smile and stand up. "come on, don't lie." I say, putting my hands around her waist. She tries to turn around but I won't let her. "let me go." she says. "oh come off it honey, you and I both know, you want this as bad as I do." I grumble. "no I don't. Now release me." she orders, making me laugh. "you actin' all big and bad is only turnin' me on more." I mumble, kissing her neck. "let me go, Jason! Or I swear I'll kick you again." she shouts. I roll my eyes. "Ya got lucky last time." I say, turning her around, holding her tight. "I'll tell your parole officer!" she threatens. I roll my eyes. "know ya won't, honey." I reply, kissing her lips. I push her against the wall. By now, she's stopped fighting me and is back where she belongs, in my arms. And it's where she'll stay.
