I slowly wake up, moving my head from side to side and feeling my fluffy, sage-green comforter rest gently against my skin. I open my eyes and run my fingers through my hair while thinking to myself, Today feels calm and nice. I thought I would wake up feeling sore from yesterday's practice, but I just feel so relaxed, like I'm sleeping on a cloud instead. I'm released from my thoughts when I hear a ping sound coming from my phone. I sit up and grab it. Oh, it's Scarlet texting me. I wonder if they want to go to the park with me.

Scarlet: Hey!

Me: Hey Scar! Are you doing anything today?

Scarlet: I'm not doing anything today :)

Me: Awesome, Would you want to go to the park with me?

Scarlet: For sure Angie!

Me: Alright, I'll pick you up in an hour or so.

I smile while clicking my phone off, and I jump off my bed. I take a quick shower and change into jean shorts, a black tank top, a flannel, and black high-top Converse. I decided to add some rings and a small silver butterfly necklace to accessorize my outfit. I grab my tote bag, make sure my wallet, phone, and car keys are in it, and walk downstairs.

I see Julian in the kitchen, drinking his morning coffee. "Hey, Julian." He turns around. "Hey Angie, where are you going?" I chuckle and say, "Oh, I'm heading out with Scarlet to eat breakfast at the park." He laughs and says, "Oh, that's good! I wasn't feeling like making breakfast." I fumble my bag in my hand "Well, I have to go pick up Scar before they get grumpy. Bye, Julian! I love you!" I turn around and walk out the door while he mumbles, I love you back.

I drive up Scarlet's street and call them to let them know I'm here, and a minute later they get in my car flashing their new magenta hair. I gasp, "Scar!! Your hair! It looks so good!" they smile. "Thank you, Angie! I wanted to surprise you!" I click my tongue and say, "Well, I have been surprised. Also, I'm starving, so let's go pick up some food." "Good because I didn't eat anything for breakfast." Scarlet connects their phone to my Bluetooth and plays alternative music as we drive to the nearest cafe shop.

When we arrived at the cafe shop we both decided to get iced coffee and a turkey sandwich with bacon and provolone cheese. We got in my car and went to the nearest park called Grove Park which is famous for its rivers.

After I park the car, we get out and start walking the trail to the rivers. "Wait, Scarlet, stand right there. The lighting looks perfect." I point and take a picture of them. "Oh my gosh, Scar, I think there is a bear behind you!" Scar chuckles, "No, there isn't Angie," "Yes, there is Scar; it shows on the picture!" I point to a random direction behind them and say, "See right there, Scar!" They look at me and say, "Girl, I don't see anything." I start walking in that direction, saying, "Well, I'm going to check it out, Scarlet." Scarlet crosses their arms and says, "Fine, go check it out! There is nothing there." I walk out of Scarlet's point of view, hide behind a tree, and let out a scream, "Ahhh! Scarlet, come help me!" I hear their footprints starting to come and them calling my name. As soon as they pass in front of me, I sneak up behind them and yell, "BOO!" Scarlet starts laughing, "Oh my god, Angie, you just gave me a heart attack." I laugh out, "Sorry Scar, I just wanted to scare you." I grab Scarlet's hand, "Also, I found this waterfall! Come check it out with me!"

Scarlet and I sit on the ground staring out the distance to the waterfall. I grabbed our breakfast out of my bag and handed them their sandwich "You know, Scarlet I've been wanting to talk to you about something lately" They turned their head "About what?" I nervously sip my drink "I think you are my best friend" They throw themselves on me and hug me "Angie!! I consider you my best friend as well!".  We sit there hugging each other for a while and then head back to the car.

By the time I get home after dropping Scarlet off, I am exhausted and decide to take a shower and change into an oversized gray shirt and black pajama shorts. I decided to watch movies and eat the food Julian bought for dinner until 9 p.m. and then go to bed so I could be focused and energized for ice hockey practice tomorrow.
