As the sun rose from the horizon, the sounds of shuffling and the aromas of a traditional breakfast filled the air. Y/n turned under their blanket, shifting to lie on their other side. Y/n could hear that Tanjiro had also risen from his slumber.

He sat up on the futon, shoulders slumped and his long hair messed up. He took the band from his wrist and twisted his hair into a ponytail before getting out of his mattress and making his bed. Before leaving the room he ambled over to his sister, lifting the blanket slightly to check on her.

After seeing the young demon still peacefully sleeping, he turned to see if the stranger he found was doing alright as well. To his surprise they were waking themselves up, rubbing out the sleep that accumulated in the corner of their eyes.

After the sharp feeling in the corner of their eye left, they slid their legs out of the blanket and onto the floor. They stretched out their arms as they leaned back and let out a groan. They twisted their neck and back, their joints popping as pressure was released.

They rested their hands on the back of their neck and shifted their gaze to Tanjiro. They groaned as they stood up from the floor and bent down to make their bed. They straightened up and slipped on their house slippers to keep the house clean.

"Did you sleep well Sato-san?" Y/n hummed a 'yes' before returning the question, "How'd you sleep, Kamado-san?" "Slept well, thank you."

The room quieted, you could hear the soft snores of Nezuko, the smoothing of the covers, and the food being made in the room next door. When Tanjiro felt he was done remaking his futon, he left the room. The door slid open and light from the kitchen streamed into the room.

Y/n soon followed after, leaving Nezuko in her slumber. Urokodaki just finished making food. The three sat at the kotatsu table. The wooden table in the center is connected to a heavy blanket, and a coal brazier is built into the table underneath.

The three kneeled on zabuton cushions, clasped their hands, and closed their eyes. They blessed and humbly accepted the meal before eating in silence.

After a few minutes of eating, Urokodaki was the first to finish his meal. He stood, grabbed his dishes, and made his way towards the faucet. He washed his dishes and Y/n was behind him. His body instinctively flinched back in surprise.

People coming behind him unexpectedly was not a common occurrence, especially with his heightened sense of smell. Y/n muttered a small, "Sorry," before slipping next to him to wash their dishes.

He watched them for a second before walking away to allow Tanjiro to wash his dishes. After the two teens finished washing the dishes, Tanjiro walked to their shared room as Y/n walked towards the table to help Urokodaki clean up. After washing and setting the now clean plates on the drying rack, Urokodaki and Y/n split into their own separate rooms. Sato-san grabbed a set of clothes left on her futon by Urokodaki and changed into them.

Slipping on their sandals, they went to take an airing in the lush vegetation behind the cabin. The trees in the forest were grand and welcoming, and the song in the wind whistled by their ears. Upon observing the art of nature, they spotted an opening, towards the opposite side was a large boulder. It was illuminated by a ray of light, seeming to almost be calling to them.

The trees behind it were shrouded in darkness under the leaves' canopy. They could have sworn that a lean, pink-haired boy with a mask covering his face was peeking from behind the trees.

He turned and ran deeper into the forest. Y/n had half a mind to not follow a strange child into a forest they don't know.
