A Heart Shattered Into Pieces (⚠️Spoilers⚠️)

Y/n was sitting down on the sand staring out into the ocean. A few tears dripped off her cheeks as the only thoughts in her head were of her best friend. She was wearing Newt's jacket making her feel close to him. It reminded her of the good times in the Glade when she would hug newt and feel loved in his comfort. More tears rolled down her cheeks at the thought of him. She moved her hands and placed them into the pockets, Y/n frowned when she felt something in the right pocket. She took it out and looked at the folded up piece of paper. What is it? she thought to herself. She took a deep breath and opened it slowly.

'Dear Y/n, I remember your first day in the Glade, we all thought you were going to be this shy little girl who would barely speak to anyone and just lock themself away but little did we know you are a rebellious monster who has an amazing spirit that made all of us laugh. When our eyes first met I knew I would love you forever,  I knew I would protect you and never leave your side, that we'd spend every day stuck in that Glade together. All the laughs we've had together brought us closer, making our bond unbreakable, that one bonfire when you drank too much of Gally's recipe and spent all night singing your head off making everyone laugh and cheer you on just reminds me how much fun we have even though we were trapped in a danger zone. And I remember that stupid little nickname you gave me, when you first called me Blondie I was awfully confused till you explained why, I laughed at how smart yet dumb you sounded making up the excuses of the name and couldn't stop smiling when you just rambled on. The bond we have created in these past years will never break, even without me here with you that bond will continue on till the day we meet again. I know you're heartbroken, and I'm sorry for that, but I did what I had to do. This virus may be destroying me but promise me one thing, stay strong for me. I know you can. Be the bravest Glader Girl we've seen. That the Glade saw. I wanted to let you know how proud I am of you. I'll always be with you, even if I'm not physically here. Remember that I will always be watching over you.

And know my love won't shrink, but only grow bigger over time.

Y/n read the letter with tears in her eyes, and her heart aching. She folded it carefully and placed it back into the right pocket, "Thank you," She whispers, looking up at Newt. "I promise I'll be strong." Newt nods, his eyes shining with unshed tears. "I know you will," he says, his voice barely above a whisper. The two hug tightly, feeling eachothers warmth and love. "I'll never forget you," Y/n says. "I'll always love you." "I'll always love you too," Newt says, his voice breaking. They pull away from the hug, Newt leans forward and kisses Y/n on the head, "I'm sorry, Darling." he whispers. She looks up and sees he was never there. She felt her heart drop, tears fell fastly from her eyes. For a minute Newt was with her, comforting her. Atleast that's what Y/n thought. But now she knew that moment wasn't real, it was only a vision on what she wished for. Wishing she could have comfort from the person she loves. Tears poured uncontrollably from her eyes, she held the letter close and looked up to the cloudy night sky. "I wish you were here Blondie," she whispers, closing her eyes.
