Chapter thirty eight
Nicole got home from work that day to find Vin's car in the driveway. She wondered what he could be doing here. She hadn't seen or heard from him since the day she and Paul made up. She walked up the driveway and Paul was waiting for her. She admired her husband he was wearing a black short selve t-shirt and a pair of blue jeans and his fast and furious converse. He looked so incredibly sexy. She leaned into him and he kissed her.
"Hey baby welcome home." He said.
"Hey what is Vin doing here?" She asked curious.
Paul smiled his smile that made her go weak in the knees. He took her hands and they started to walk up the drive way and into the house. "We have a surprise for you."
Nicole smiled. "What kind of surprise?"
"Let's just say you're going to love it."
Once inside Nicole sat down at the kitchen table across from Vin. Meadow was in the living room working on homework. She waved at Nicole who smiled and waved back.
"Baby do you want anything?" asked Paul.
"Um just some tea thank you." She said.
Paul went through the cabinets and started hitting up water in the microwave. Vin looked at her and smiled.
"So what is it Vin? Paul was being mysterious about you being here." She said.
Vin smiled and pushed a folder towards Nicole. "Read this." He said.
"What's this?" she asked.
"Open it." Said Paul smiling from the counter where he was making tea.
Nicole opened it and saw that there was a brochure and an acceptance letter from the dean of USC. Inviting her to join the college for the fall semester.
She was starting to cry. "Vin what did you do?"
"I know you've always wanted to go to school, so I made a few calls it just so happens that my brother is good friends with the dean over at USC. You belong in school Nicole. I've seen your grades and you commitment to your university back in Pittsburgh."
'But I can't afford to go to school here." She said shutting the folder.
Vin smiled. "Paul and I are going to pay for your last year of college."
Nicole couldn't believe it. Paul sat down beside her and placed her tea on the table.
"And grad school too if that's what you want." Said Paul.
"Guys you really don't have to do this. I mean you both have children to put through school." She said tears stinging her eyes.
"Meadow's grades are so good that she has a scholarship to go to any school she wants, and we don't have to worry about Luke and Sarah for a while." Said Paul holding her hand.
She looked at Vin who smiled. "But what about you Vin? I mean your kids.'
Vin brushed it off. "Please my kids are young and haven't you figured it out by now that I'm loaded?" He said.
She laughed and Paul touched her shoulder. "You won't have to worry about anything, I'm going to take care of the kids." He said.
She looked into his deep blue eyes. "But how? I mean you have to film movies. Some of them require going out of the country."
Paul and Vin looked at each other and Nicole could sense that there was something she didn't know.
"What is it?" she asked them.
"After Furious 7 is over I'm leaving the fast franchise and I'm going to open my own garage. Not to race cars just work on them. I'll do a movie here and there to make extra money. But I want this I want to be a stay at home Dad. I was being selfish making you give up school. I would do anything for you. I love you Nicole."
She smiled and touched his face she had never been happier. She kissed him and he smiled deepening the kiss. "I love you Paul Walker." She said.
"I love you baby." He said.
Vin smiled and Meadow walked into the kitchen. "I'm so glad my dad's going to be around more, and I'm glad that you can finally be truly happy Nicole."
She stood up and hugged her. "Thank you Meadow for everything, you truly do have your father's grace and kindness."
Meadow shrugged. "It's genetic."
They all laughed and Nicole hugged Vin and Paul for a group hug Meadow came at the last minute and got in on the hug as well.
They were all one big happy and dysfunctional family.
