Xí was having a rough day. Ever since that old man had come to him begging for money, people had flooded nonstop to his small pond. Almost every hour, there was another person, asking him for help with health, relationships, and almost every other problem available.
He sighed. He had no idea what they were talking about. He didn't have any wish-giving abilities like they kept saying. He was just an ordinary merfolk.
Speak of the devil, yet another human wanting their wish granted showed up next to the pond. Xí swam up to the water's edge, then asked what they wished for, as per usual.
The human, a woman, asked for happiness. A pretty common wish. Xí had no way of granting this, as far as he knew, so he did the next best thing and grabbed some random thing from the bottom of the pond, which just so happened to be a pendant from a necklace.
He swam back up to the surface of the pond and dropped the pendant on the dirt in front of the human. Despite it just being a random thing he found, the girl's face instantly lit up upon seeing it. She started to go on about it being her grandfathers, and how it was lost so long ago.
Pure coincidence, in Xí's opinion. It was just a random necklace to him.
He went back under the water, waiting for the next human.
