Leon's P.O.V
Me and Clavell soon came to a beach right behind Nemona's house. She was there, waiting for us. She waved at us and said, "Over here!" I walk over to her. I'm slightly nervous since this is my first battle as a trainer. Nemona notices how I feel and tells me, "Anyone can be a Pokémon Trainer as long as they have Pokémon by their side! And it's our duty as Trainers to help our Pokémon grow stronger through battle!" I smile and say, "Yeah! You're right!" Nemona grinned and said, "So, you ready to battle me, Leon?" I nod and say, "Ready as I'll ever be!" Nemona nods at me and says, "Perfecto! I'm so excited! For this battle, I think I'll use—" Clavell then stopped her. "Miss Nemona," he started, "I trust you remember that Mister Leon is wholly inexperienced in Pokémon battling?" I nod. "Yep. First day here and I only just got a Pokémon." I tell Nemona. Nemona gasps, realizing that she almost blundered by sending out one of her stronger Pokémon. "Heh, whoops... Good call, Director. I was about to send out one of my usual partners right off the bat.. I guess I'll take this chance to try out my new buddy instead!" Nemona says, sending out Quaxly. "Let's do this, Leaf!" I say, throwing Leaf's Poké Ball, releasing the Sprigatito. Leaf stares Quaxly down. "Sprigatito VS Quaxly. Begin!" Clavell shouted. "Come on, Leon!" Nemona says, "Let us have a fruitful battle!" I look at Nemona and say, "Agreed."

I look at my Rotom Phone. It seems like Leaf currently knows Bite, Tail Whip and Leafage. I decided to start with Tail Whip. Leaf goes over to Quaxly and wags his tail in front of his face. Nothing seems to happen. "Uh? What does that move do?" I ask. "It lowers a Pokémon's defense." Clavell explains. I realized that Tail Whip can be useful if I need it. Quaxly goes for Water Gun. It doesn't do much damage to Leaf. I then have Leaf use Leafage. It hits Quaxly, dealing a super effective Critical hit. "Wow," Nemona says, "Both a super effective and a critical hit in one go! You really know your type matchups." I'm confused, but I realized that Quaxly took a lot more damage from Leaf's attack of Leafage, however, his Water Gun barely led a scratch on him. I managed to figure out that Grass Pokémon are strong against Water Pokémon. Sure enough, Quaxly faints. "Quaxly is unable to battle. Leon wins." Clavell says. "We won, Leaf!" I shout in excitement. "Sprig!" Leaf agrees. "Wow! Not bad, neighbor!" Nemona says, "Look at you, winning your first battle ever! You've got even more potential than I thought! You're gonna be a strong Trainer for sure!" I smile. "Thank you." is all I have to say. Nemona then said, "But now I want to try a different strategy! Let's go again—just one more battle!" I'm surprised. "Uh..." I managed to get out before Clavell beat me to it. "Mister Leon and his Sprigatito are surely weary already from that last battle." Clavell tells her. I just nod. Nemona realizes that she nearly challenged me before I was ready for round 2 and says, "Ah, sorry! I got kinda caught up in all the excitement... I'm really sorry, Leon. Same to your Sprigatito, too." I tell her, "It's fine. I do want to battle you again soon." Nemona becomes happy. "Oh, definitely! We'll definitely battle more!" Nemona tells me. Clavell smiles and says, "You two seem to be becoming fast friends, though you've only just met." I nod. "I was quite nervous about going to Uva without knowing anyone, but I'm glad I befriended Nemona." I say with a smile. Clavell turns to Nemona and says, "Can I count on you to take your new schoolmate here under your wing, Miss Nemona? I'm sure he can learn a great deal from a Champion-ranked Trainer, such as yourself." Nemona nods excited. "You bet!" She says. "Oh, that reminds me! since you're new to training Pokémon, there's an app you definitely need! You have a smartphone, right? Lemme see it for a sec." I pulled out my phone and Nemona does the same with hers. Soon, I have a new app. "The Pokédex will automatically register any Pokémon you catch. It's a must-have for Pokémon Trainers! Our homeroom teacher, Mr. Jacq, actually made it himself!" Nemona tells me. "Wow, thanks!" I say in response. "Back in my day, we used ordinary paper and handwritten notes to compile our Pokédexes. It's quite the age we live in now." Clavell tells us. "Oof! Filling out a Pokédex by hand? I can't even imagine how much work that would take!" Nemona says as I nod in agreement. Clavell laughs. "Ohoho... No, I suppose you can't. Yet no matter how much the times may change, the wonder of meeting new Pokémon never does. That is a truly timeless pleasure." New Pokémon? I thought to myself. Clavell smiles and says, "And the more Pokémon that you encounter, the more you'll find yourself growing and changing. I hope you will both work hard toward the goal of completing your own Pokédexes." That catches my interest. Who knows how many Pokémon are out there, waiting to be discovered. Clavell turns to Nemona and says, "Now, Miss Nemona, I do still have a few matter to discuss with your parents. Could I depend on you to see Mister Leon to the academy? You would be doing me quite the favor." Nemona nods and says, "Yes, Sir!" Clavell smiles and says, "Then I leave him in your capable hands." Clavell heads inside Nemona's house as I turn to her. "So," I start, "How do I get more Pokémon?" Nemona realizes that since I was just starting out, I had no idea what to do to catch Pokémon. "Oh! Right! Speaking of Pokédexes, Leon, you've probably never caught a wild Pokémon, right?"
"Nope" I say. "I'll show you the ropes before I take you to the academy. Come with me!" Nemona says. "Alright," I tell her, " I just need to let mom know I'm leaving now." We both head back to my house.
