Walking into the newly renovated gym, Wednesday sighed. How unfortunate they were able to repair it to its full glory. Enid was practically vibrating with energy next to the goth girl, who was dragging her feet with a scowl.

Glancing to the right, Wednesday nearly paled further at the sight of the gym teacher dragging a foam mat under a rope attached to the ceiling.

"Don't tell me..."

"Yes! We get to climb it?!" Enid squealed as she darted towards the dangling equipment. "Oh my god, I've only seen this in like movies and stuff."

Left on her own, the sulking teenager moved to hide in the bustling crowd that was her classmates. She crouched down slightly to avoid being seen by her teacher, which was completely unnecessary as she was dwarfed by her peers as it was.

"Alright, is everyone here?" The teacher scanned the crowd, nodding to himself. "Good. As most of you probably guessed, today's task is..."

He gestured towards the ropes with a smirk as most of the class groaned. The werewolves gave little yips of joy, always up for a new physical challenge.

"We'll be going alphabetically today, which means that... Ackerson, you're up."

A scrawny gorgon boy groaned as he made his way to the front. He glanced behind him, as though his classmates could get him out of this situation.

"If your surname doesn't start with A or B, go do two laps of the hall and then work on muscle training. Go easy."

Wednesday bit her lip nervously. Enid pouted but did what was told of her and the other students of the class. The goth wanted to reach out to her friend but decided against it, keeping her balled up fist next to her side.

The fuzzy feeling creeping its way into her mind, making her grind her teeth. She stared at the teen in front of her as the other students with A or B names talked to one another.

The coach had a stopwatch in his hand, marking something down on a clipboard as the kid on the rope got maybe three feet off the ground.

"How... high...is this... thing?" The kid struggled to ask as he moved his arm an inch further up.

"Twenty feet. Keep going."

Ackerson's face was red as he puffed out his cheeks, forcing himself up the rope. After a few more struggled attempts, he fell landing on his back.

"Oof-"

"Get up and move out of the way." The teacher pointed to the jogging group. "You get a C on this."

The boy grumbled something incoherent as he cracked his neck. He flicked off the rope before joining the runners. Like something from a horror film, the teacher slowly turned and pointed at Wednesday.

"Addams. Your turn."

Rolling her eyes, the teenager slowly made her way up, seething with rage. She got as close to her teacher as she could physically tolerate before muttering, "I can't do it."

"I don't care, that's why you're here. It's a test to see whether you can or not. Now get up."

Wednesday took a deep breath to stop herself from breaking his fingers.

"I'm going to drop."

"That's what the mats are for! Now climb."

In the smallest steps possible, the girl stepped up to the dreaded equipment. She sighed loudly and dramatically before reaching for one of the ropes, at which point the heavens had sweet sweet mercy on her as her head was thrown back.
