Chapter 1

No POV (Teiko Middle School Gym)

As the Teiko Middle School Boys Basketball team returned to the gym after successfully winning their third national championship in a row, they were instantly surrounded by the rest of the school congratulating them, even though tiredness was written all over their faces. When they had escaped the crowd and managed to get to the gym, one of the three pink heads fell flat onto the floor and groaned. This got a small laugh from the rest as they sat down near him. The one that fell was Y/N Akashi, Vice-Captain and twin brother of Captain Seijuro Akashi. The dark blue haired boy was the ace of the team, Daiki Aomine. The green haired boy was their shooter, Shintaro Midorima. The tall, purple haired boy was the defence demon, Atsushi Murisakibara. The yellow haired boy was the schools hottie, Ryota Kise. The baby blue haired boy was their phantom, Tetsuya Kuroko. The pink haired girl was their manager, Mitsuki Momoi. These eight are a team that cannot be beaten, end of story. They are the Generation of Miracles. They've been winning every game they've been in since their second year. But something changed at the beginning of their third, almost everyone began playing for themselves, not for the team. Only Kuroko, Y/N and Momoi stayed the same. But Y/N had changed too, just differently to everyone else. While they had begun to play for themselves, they still loved playing basketball, but Y/N was different, he had lost his interest in the sport entirely. He had been looking for a sport that gave him the same rush as basketball used to and he found it, volleyball. There was just something about it that made it so exciting. Nobody knew of course, he wanted to wait until they no longer needed to play in order to tell them. And since they don't have any more tournaments, he thought now would be the best time. But he decided to ease everything instead of just dropping it on them.

Y/N: I swear it gets more tiring every year.

Aomine: That or you're just getting sloppy.

Y/N: Hey!!

Midorima: While I don't condone his behaviour, he does have a point. There have been times where you have been slaking, both in games and practice.

Murisakibara: You're the most passionate out of all of us and suddenly you're like me, playing just because you're good at it.

Y/N: How did you?

Kise: Y/N-chi, we may be basketballers, but we're also your friends, you can tell us.

Momoi: Yeah, we won't judge you.

Seijuro: And you're my brother, we may not see eye to eye, but I'll always be there for you.

Kuroko: That's what friends are for.

Y/N: You guys...

Y/N was struggling to keep his tears from falling as he said his next line.

Y/N: I've kinda... lost interest in basketball. And I have for a while now.

They were surprised to say the least, he was the most passionate out of all of them. He currently holds the school record for most basket attempts and highest total score over his three years there. He also has most assists in the school history and most successful three pointers. But he lost his passion for basketball? That just sounds absurd.

Kise: I don't believe you.

Aomine: Yeah, that's weird coming from you.

Midorima: When we said anything, we didn't want you to lie.

Murisakibara: You really need to work on your lying skills.

Y/N: Guys, I'm not lying.

Midorima: Like Kise-kun said, we don't believe you.

Y/N: You three believe me, right?

Momoi: Of course I do, you've never lied before, so why would you start now?
