TW: Gore and torture and emotional distraught

Life is shit when you're kidnapped.

I mean, duh. There is nothing sunshine and rainbows about being taken against your will and locked up.

But seeing Yumi sleep, wincing every so often with injuries littering her skin, there is a pit in my stomach that grows almost to when the shitty king saw Aya die. (Yeah I'm calling her the stupid nickname from my past life. What of it?)

After what seems like hours of me just staring at Yumi's tensed frame, the door of the room creaks open.

The guy from before, the one I assume is Yumi's uncle walks in with blood splattered on his beige coat, his hands coated in more of it, chains dragging behind him from his shoulders.

I hold my breath, watching with narrowed eyes and not daring to make noise. Because this creep from hell has all his attention on Yumi, eyes glowing brightly in a way that Yumi's did during the sport's festival.

In a blink of an eye, a chain whips and slashes across Yumi's face, waking her up with a cry ripped out of her throat.

I lunge forward, feeling the chains around my chair intuitively squeeze me, pulling me back.

Her eyes are still aquamarine bluish green, but when she sees her uncle, they begin to flicker with an auburn glow, almost as if resonating with his quirk.

A cut across her cheek bleeds with beads of red, trailing down her neck, making the fear dancing in her eyes not look as debilitating as before. Almost making her look as battle worn and brave as Aya with a bloodied sword in hand.

But Yumi is more focused on the red coating her uncle's hands. She groans, refusing to make eye contact with me.

"Who's blood is it?" She asks with a crack in her voice.

I can't see her uncle's face from how he's facing his back to me, but the way Yumi shrinks, I know he's making a face that means shitty news. "Your dear old dad's."

"No!" She screams raw, tears pooling in her eyes, "You're lying!"

He bends so that he covers her view from me, his hand reaching forward and his voice almost low and parental it makes my stomach twist with dread.

"You know me, buddy." He coos, "I don't lie."

She wails, her voice painfully distraught that I have the urge to come closer and hug her, shield her from this shit head of an uncle. He's nearly as nasty as Aya's uncle who wanted to marry her off to a deranged emperor.

Then I hear her choke on a sob, and see her legs thrash.

He's choking her.

I lunge forward in my seat, this time with more vigor, not caring that the chains are starting to bruise my skin,

Her uncle peers over his shoulder, eyes still glowing, the scar more prominent with how his brows furrow. "Are you close to her?"

Before I can even say anything, Yumi rushedly says, "He's only showing pity. He only cares for becoming the number one hero." I hear her breathe more heavily, her voice hardened to her desperation, "We haven't been talking for weeks."

She's not wrong. We haven't had a proper conversation in a long while. Since I labeled her a liar just like my shitty past self did with Aya.

"Is that true?" He hums then, shrugging his shoulders when turning around and tilting his lips in a nonchalant grin. "Not that it matters if you do or not. It's not like I have any jurisdiction to hurt you. The League had one condition and that was you stay unharmed."
