The full moon shone high in the sky, Hangman's hands were empty, he had lost his dagger during the ever so heartless assassination of Cloud, who was formerly known as Commander Loaf. It was only a few days after that when he had found himself face to face with The Creator.
"It's an honor to be here, Creator." Hangman vowed as he and The Creator stood across from each other on a platform in the sky.
"You're lucky you're my favorite." The Creator said back, it seemed unreal that Hangman would be their favorite, maybe they just wanted a bit more excitement, a little more chaos and... fun, what they liked to call it.
Hangman took off his mask and stared back at the figure in front of him with dead, black eyes. A neutral face was all The Creator got out of the man who killed far too many people in his lifetime—so to say, more than he could remember at all. He's left so many families, friends, and loved ones devastated by his destructive path yet he still managed to care not of it.
"It's a one in a lifetime chance," The Creator started, "I saw the look you always had on your face, you were clearly angry I wouldn't let anyone get killed by one another in this place weren't you?" They looked mockingly at Hangman with a smirk.
Hangman nodded slowly, looking to the side, seeming somewhat embarrassed unlike the man he is.
"So, why Cloud?" The Creator asked suddenly, looking over from behind them at the man.
Hangman seemed taken aback. "What do you mean?" He asked cautiously, trying to keep his composure. He knew exactly how powerful The Creator was and tried his best to not cross paths with them, even if he is one of the most skilled and strongest people there. Was he not supposed to kill Cloud?
"Just curious." The Creator simply said in return, shrugging their shoulders. "But y'know," they added with a tint of seriousness in their voice, "Mercy is also one of my favorites too."
They smirked back at the man in front of them, who was only six feet away from an unknown power. "And since she was the one taking care of Cloud most of the time she was here, I'm sure she was pretty devastated when you killed her one and only best friend." They held his hands behind his back and tilted his head, knowing he had already won.
Hangman suddenly had a look of betrayal on his face. "But- you let me kill her!" He protested, "You didn't object when I specifically said I wanted to ruin Mercy's life, why didn't you tell me if you didn't want me to do that? I thought we were a team!" He thought he and The Creator were actually friends for once. He hadn't felt this feeling of hatred in a while. He knew exactly what The Creator had meant in their tone of voice.
All The Creator did was just chuckle menacingly. "Oh Hangman, you thought we worked together? I'm on nobody's side! I do what I want!" A flash of lightning and a sound of thunder came along after the sentence like it was perfectly timed, adding to the effect of a true villain's spotlight of glory and recognition.
Hangman's thoughts were correct indeed. The Creator was just deceiving him, making him think that they were teammates and friends all along when really, he was just framed for murder and was never going to be forgiven for it ever again. He had exceptionally good bonds with everyone else here, he was even on good terms with Mercy and Cloud themselves. Now everyone hates him and some of them want to even hunt him down. But if he was supposedly The Creator's favorite, and Mercy was also one of their favorites, then does that mean they will also deceive her too?
But Hangman had to admit this was his fault as well. If only he declined the offer of getting to execute at least someone then this would have never happened, but of course, his cruel mind craved blood once again. This was a price both Hangman and The Creator had to pay.
