Time passed quickly with the three of them.
Violette had a liveliness about her that complimented her own, quite well. Blaise jokingly brought up how he felt like the third wheel here when they were fully immersed in their conversation.
Even though the slight unease Lily had felt when she entered the house subsided in the wake of Violette's shining smiles, she never forgot her own plans.
When she tactfully brought up the matter with the previous Boss of the Italian mafia, Violette's smiles that shined so bright till now dimmed considerably.
Nightmares clouded her eyes.
Lily couldn't remember the last time she felt guilty for any questionable thing she did, might have even forgotten the feeling of having that particular emotion pass through.
But at that moment, she felt guilty. For bringing up such a sensitive topic, even if it was for an understandable reason. For making Violette's nightmares come up again, even if it wasn't her intention.
And when Blaise interfered, cautiously changing the topic to a much better direction, Lily wanted to hug that man in gratitude.
Guilt was such an uncomfortable feeling. If she never felt guilty again, it'd be too soon.
Violette left soon after remarking, "I'll leave you two lovebirds to romance each other, then."
Lily strongly wanted to protest against it. She was no lovebird! How cheesy did that sound?
But the woman left before she could garner her properly indignant response.
She could only look at Blaise, with grievances written in her eyes.
Light laughter spilt from his lips. "I've never seen you on the losing side of a talk before. I can only apologize on behalf of my mother."
She rolled her eyes. "Whatever. And you don't need to apologise for your mother. I quite like her." She then shrugged. "I'm not a sore loser."
But now that it was back to the two of them again, memories of their previous few encounters surfaced. Lily wasn't someone familiar with the word: Awkward. Wherever she went, awkwardness fled in the opposite direction.
Today seemed to be a day where she was experiencing a lot of novelties.
She only came back to this place because... because Selene told her to!
But if she told him that, he would think she didn't want to come here which... would it hurt his feelings? He did say he... cared for her. Which is probably a lie! She shouldn't take it seriously. And... and... why did she need to be honest about her purpose in coming here? She could just lie and he wouldn't be hurt and wait-
Why would she care if he was hurt or not? What did it matter to her?
Oh, that's right! He could decide to retaliate against her if he felt wronged in any way.
