The room fell into a profound silence, interrupted only by the faint rustling of papers on the desk. Standing before me was the formidable figure of the school's chairman. The sudden summons had caught me off guard, right after I had parted ways with Matsushita. I hoped she wouldn't be upset about it.

In truth, a small part of me was relieved not to have to accompany Matsushita. Though meeting new people sounded exciting, I secretly craved a tranquil high school life. Now, as I faced the chairman, uncertainty filled my mind about what this unexpected encounter might entail.

The chairman placed the papers on his desk with a gentle thud and a warm smile spread across his face. His eyes locked onto mine, seeming to pierce through the layers of time.

"Long time no see..." he stated abruptly, leaving me puzzled as to what he meant by that remark.

I ask, "Excuse me, but do I know you?" His smile only widened in response.

"Well, it's only natural that you wouldn't recognize me, as our interactions have been limited to observing you from behind glass," he explained cryptically. Rising from his chair, he began to approach me, exuding an air of familiarity that eluded my memory.

The chairman's words hung in the air like a delicate mist of intrigue, weaving a sense of familiarity and mystery around him. He adjusted his glasses with a sense of poise and fixed his gaze on me, as if trying to capture every nuance of my presence.

"I've known you for a long time, and your father too," he disclosed, causing a ripple of astonishment to course through my mind. The realization that this man had a history with both me and my father ignited a spark of curiosity within me.

As he peered at me more closely through his glasses, he remarked with an air of amusement, "Now I can really see you better," as though some hidden truth had become apparent to him.

"Are you 19?" he inquired, his smile welcoming yet inquisitive.

"Yes but i turn 20 this year," I replied succinctly, sensing that brevity was the best course of action in this enigmatic encounter.

(A/N: honestly never knew succinctly was a word till my English teacher in highschool taught me this)

He chuckled softly before revealing, "And you're in your first year. This is the first time anyone in this school has done this,"

"I'm sure you've heard from your father that he played a significant role in securing this opportunity for you," he continued, prompting a nod from me. The mention of my father's involvement added another layer of intrigue to the unfolding conversation.

"My respect for Professor Ayanokoji runs deep, so his request to enroll you here didn't bother me in the least. Moreover, I'm genuinely curious about how powerful his masterpiece is," he revealed, almost as if he were delving into my very soul with his gaze.

He paused, collecting his thoughts before apologizing for the abrupt summons, which I accepted with a polite nod.

A hint of amusement twinkled in his eyes as he acknowledged the peculiar caller ID that had piqued my confusion earlier. "Well, I hope you embark on an exceptional high school journey," he expressed sincerely, his voice laced with a blend of encouragement and admiration.

As he returned to his seat, engrossed in the papers before him, I felt an air of enigma linger in the room. "You may go now," he uttered calmly, dismissing me from the captivating encounter with the chairman, leaving me to wonder about the significance of this meeting and the untold connections that entwined me with this venerable figure.
