Layla

The grip he had on me was unbelievably strong. He had grabbed my upper arm, his fingers digging into my skin, maybe enough to leave a mark.

At first I was glad he had caught me before I fell, and then I remembered why I was running in the first place. I struggled against him but his grip on my arm was as strong as iron.

I turned around to look at him. He had a look of fury on his face, his jaw was clenched so tight it could have popped off. He grabbed my other arm to hold me still.

"Don't. Ever. Do that. Again." His words were firm, intense and terrifying.

Tears welled up in my eyes due to the pain of his grip on my arm and of his strict tone. A single tear rolled down my cheek.

He saw it.

His gaze softened, he unclenched his jaw and released the grip on my arm ever so slightly.

"You listen to me Layla. I don't want to hurt you. I don't want to see you hurt. Please stop running. Stop fighting. I'll explain everything, please." His words were genuine.

I calmed down, regained my breath and my strength. A hiccup left my mouth as I said, "You better start explaining then." Another tear rolled down my cheek, and a quiet sob escaped my lips.

I was so scared. This place was beautiful, but I didn't know what I was doing here, why I was here or how Axel new me. I had so many unanswered questions, but Axel looked ready to answer them.

"Sit down." He commanded. His tone was firm but there was still sweetness in his voice.

I did as I was told, I sat cross legged on the grass, being careful to sit on the fabric of my dress. Axel sat across from me.

"I know you have a lot of questions. Let me answer some for you."
