Jim Hopper wouldn't consider himself a lucky man. After all, his daughter had passed away, his wife had left him, and of course, he was stuck in that Russian prison for 8 months. But today, he felt lucky. This was because Joyce Byers, the love of his life, was sitting right next to him in the car. He stared at her. God, she was so beautiful.
"What are you staring at?" Joyce asked, snapping Hopper out of his trance. She raised her eyebrow, which made him smile.
"Nothing... you're just so... beautiful" he said, barley even making a sound.
"You know I can hear everything you say, right?" Murray said, making them jump. "You make me sick."
Joyce and Hopper looked at each other and smiled. They hadn't been this close since they had kissed in that church-warehouse. They both couldn't get that moment off their minds. But it didn't matter. Because today, they were going home.
Joyce, Hopper, and Murray arrived at the airport. It was cold in Russia. They couldn't wait to get back to Hawkins.
After they went through security and boarded the plane, Murray decided to sit somewhere else to give Joyce and Hopper some privacy. As if there was such thing as privacy on that crowded plane.
Joyce and Hopper sat down next to each other on the plane, their arms barley touching. "How's El doing?" Hopper asked.
"She's fine, Mike just came from Hawkins to visit her" Joyce answered.
"Mike... they're still together?" Hopper said with hatred in his voice.
"They seem happy." Joyce said to him.
At that moment, the plane started moving along the runway, which jump scared Joyce.
Hopper saw this, and took her hand, smiling at her. "It's going to be okay." He said, squeezing her hand gently. Joyce relaxed, until the plane lifted off the air. She squeezed his hand so hard that it turned purple. Hopper just smiled. The flight was eleven hours long, so after a few hours, Joyce fell asleep, with her head resting on Hopper's shoulder.
A/N wow!! My first fanfiction!! Isn't that crazy? Anyways, I don't really know if I'll ever update this again because I'm on vacation, but this was fun to write!! This was actually supposed to be a one shot but I decided to turn it into an actual story, so I hope you enjoy
