THAT SAME DAY, valeria's father gladly let her go to mila's house after she was bombarded with messages from her friends asking her to come over. valeria knew that it was gonna be them debriefing about last night's disaster, which quite frankly valeria didn't wanna talk about, but she didn't want to keep her friends worrying about her. plus, she figured that her friends deserved to know about what happened between her and matt.
so, she put on her shoes and walked all the way down the street to mila's house. about five seconds after ringing the door bell, she was pulled inside the house by mila and was practically dragged onto the couch to sit next to isabella. mila sat next to isabella's other side as they got straight to the point. "why didn't you answer our texts last night?" isa asked.
"i didn't even see them until i woke up this morning." valeria answered.
"things got insanely awkward after you left last night." mila told her. "chris was straight up giggling, nick wanted to jab his fork into his eye, isa was trying not to laugh, and i wanted to kill myself."
"it was so bad." isabella commented. she then added, "also, can we talk about matt defending you from your mom? 'cause that was insane."
"yes!" mila exclaimed. "did he tell you about that?"
valeria's eyebrows scrunched in confusion, "i mean, he told me about it last night when he found me outside, but he didn't tell me what he said. why?"
"he just kept saying the nicest things about you, it was weird to see him say it. he was like, 'valeria would never cause a scene. i know her better than you. she was excited about tonight and you didn't have to ruin her fun like that.'" mila tried to quote matt's words.
given the nature of matt and valeria's relationship, it really was peculiar of matt to say all these things. and it just seemed to confuse valeria even more. what provoked him to even defend her in the first place?
"your mom was gagged a bit." isabella remarked.
"how are you feeling about the whole thing though?" mila asked, making sure that valeria was actually okay.
she was a bit speechless. she was still picturing matt saying those things about her to her mother and it was an odd thing for her to think about. however, she still gathered enough words to form a sentence for her friends. "uh, i'm fine. my dad apologized for everything this morning and he wants to fix our relationship."
